Tau & Eldar vs. Space Marines
2000pts per side.
Well, my friend, whom I had just 2 weeks prior sold all my eldar force to, and I teamed up in the second round of the ongoing tournment at my local hobby store. We both had won the previous week for the tournment so had a win under our belt already, and so did our opponent. It was a roughly 6' by 8' table with heavy rock and forest terrain. The eldar army fielded mostly the famous eldar elites (fire dragons, howling bansees), some swooping hawks, and some dark reapers. He also transfered roughly 150 pts remaining over to my force. My tau army included 2 railhead gunships, 1 broadside, 1 shas'o crisis with shield drones, 2 crisis suits (seperate teams), and a stealth team. For troops we used guardians, rangers, kroot, and a unit of firewarriors (lots of infiltrating).
out opponent used an army almost completely fielded in tanks and transports. 2 predators, a land raider (HQ), 3 dreadnaughts, 3 of the more heavily armed troop transports (not rhinos), a jet pack squadron, and 2 units of marines (roughly 10 man squads). All in total he had almost 10 lascannons in his army (most twinlinked).
We managed to roll for first (tied with sixes and then won 4-2 on the second roll). We managed to immobilize the land raider first rail gun shot, immobilized one of the dreadnaughts, stunned 1 of the predators, and stunned the dreadnaut. We then pot shotted at the jet pack squadron & one of the marine units and ended up masacreing the scout unit that he infiltrated). For the Marine players turn he quickly tore through the front armour and destroyed one of the hammerheads. He then incinerated the Eldar players Farseer in 3 las cannon shots (2 saved, the 3rd was an instant kill).
The game lasted 5 turns in total, and the eldar and tau forces easily held the lead from the very beginning. destroying all transports (other than land raider) and slowly crippiling and causing a massive explosion from the predators (one exploded causing massive casualties to the marine HQ unit marching along side it from the immobilized land raider).
By the end of the game, the marine players vehichles and dreadnauts were dead, immobilized, or deamed useless, and all his normal troops & jet packs were destroyed. The eldar player lost his farseer, most of his guardian squad, and all but the exarch for the swooping hawks. My tau forces recieved only kroot casualties (all but 1 kroot and 2 kroot hounds) and the loss of a single hammerhead.
It was a fun game for both sides and all had fun while playing. The win means that my friend and I now are 2-0 for the tournment and eagerly await next week's round.
I thought you'd guys like to hear about the superior win of the tau and eldar (the two only truely good armies of the game)
what other armies are there? that are good that is ^^;;
when I said good armies... I ment good/evil good, not good/sucky good.
eldar are a bit more good than nuetral.Originally Posted by Lost Nemesis
I-guard is definately more good than spacemarines (who are neither good nor evil, but definately not neutral), but guard still isn't totally good.
eldar and tau are the only 2 real ones that follow the good path.
What good path would Eldar follow?Originally Posted by FolkenFanel
They simply mean to survive.
Some Craftworlds, sure, they have good ideals.
Others might be a tad bit more iffy on that one.
I find them to be incredibly neutral in the world fo 40k..
And I believe IG can be totally good - it's not the army itself that goes down dark paths (normally) but the commanding officers who lead them.
