i am having trouble deciding what to take for an army of around 1500 points. i've got a pretty tricked out hive tyrant, and his 2 guard dudes. then ive got the broodlord and a retinue of stealers. depending on how many stealers i put in the broodlord's retinue, its about even pointswise. i've been looking at the stats for the tyrant guards, and theyre pretty good on their own. wish i could take another squad. so i've got my winged tyrant (no guard for him, o well), and i dunno who to take as my second HQ choice-the broodlord and retinue or the tyrant and 2 guards (i personally am swaying towards the guards because they look pretty sweet)
Depends on if u want to do damage or have a really defensive HQ.
BL will wreak havoc like none other if he gets in CC and can infiltrate, so 2nd turn charge (if he survives the fire that will most likely come his way)
Walking Tyrant: I've seen Sm armies empty their entire arsenal and not put a scratch on the tyrant (guards died tho). And 12 shots at S5 TL-LA is really tempting.
Personally i'd go with the BL since he can deal with IC's with the effenicency of a hot scalpel through butter.
Dreams give us a vision of a world unlike any we have seen. They present us with a glimpse of a better life; a goal to aspire to, and in the face of insurmountable odds, they provide us with the power to overcome, to live on, and to succeed where we would have otherwise failed.
Go BL. He can rip through marines like there's no tomorrow. Not to mention tanks .
Walking tyrant may seem a tempting choice, but he is a bit pricey with upgrades and doesn't do as much damage.
Since you already have one tyrant, I'd say take the BL. Save the second tyrant for games with multi-detach or when you have to hold an objective or survive.

I was talking to a GW staff member today and i asked him the same question - it seemed rather wise for the staff to me...
he said if you have lots of gaunts, take the BL, that way when they hit enemy lines they will have synapse nearby to keep em in the fight. If you have more genestealers/carnifex's etc take the second tyrant as that way it will take longer to wipe out all the synapse and you have more chance of the existing synapse ensuring you will make it to the fight without running (and enough ld 10 critters to ensure they wont flee at a pinch in melee)
so i decided id go for a second tyrant, then i noticed they had a Carnifex in stock and got that instead
