Played a 500 point game yesterday against a good buddy down the street from me. We played on the floor, so I thing we were playing in a 1x2 recatangle. Deplyoing on the long sides.Brood of 8 Hormagaunts opened up Turn 1 by Leaping into his forward battleline of 15 Conscripts behind sandbags. They got first turn and amazingly did not wound a single one. They cut through them like butter. Consolidate 2 inches and disappointly have to withstand a volly of rapid fire weapons next turn, as they pass leadership test. 3 Warriors, 1 with VC, Destroy a Guardsmen from his HQ and start the long slog towards the front. Carnifex breaks cover and takes up a flank on the right side while Stealers charge headlong into the folly.
To make a long story short, my Carnifex takes a withering amount of fire in turn three after the Horms are shredded by lasgun fire. Warriors cut through HQ, killing the Meltagun, Medic and a Commissar with Powerfist when the are cut down by second with powersword. 'Fex tears through 2 squads of 10 Guard before shot in the face by Commissar with laspistol. He had 1 wound left. Yes, I failed his save . 4 stealers left. Charge into assault HQ of Commissar. 2 rounds of combat and 2 stealers destroyed. 2 left, rending claws cause four hits. I roll 3 sixes and a 5. Lets just say the effects afterward were not pretty. Miniscule victory for 'Nid invasion force  My 'Fex had 2x Scyth Tals, Mace Tail, Tusked, Poison Sacs. I'll be taking another one for sure before making my shooty 'Fex. Anyone else have similar results?
Any body can beat guard when there 12 in away with leaping no less. To beat him from half way across the whole room, then I'd be inpressed.
Three Companies of the 26th Vinancium
143rd Airborne Badgers (99.9% done)
159th Corsair Rifles (35% done))
69th Armored Wall Busters (95% done)
Total 197 men, 12 tanks, 4 Heavy Artillery Pieces
Try playing guard on a 48x48 to see who has the best army.
That's a little big for such a small game. Still you could have had the board a little bigger...Originally Posted by MarcTheDwarf

That's what all GW stores do anyhow. Heck, GW stores will play up to 1500 points on those tiny little crap tables.
Warhammer40k is biased toward cc(hey, I sure didnt know wolfs would kill the guardsman. Why is the goverment spending money on weapon, use police dogs)
Anyway, it always look better when the two army play on a big table.
task force xerxes
i agree with um, a bunch of people. when you have a table that small, you're bound to win. also, your fex should really have a barbed strangler. with no strength upgrade youve got a strength 8 blast template, which equals troop shredding. your 4 monstrous creature attacks should be more than enough (so long as you took toxic miasma and adrenal glands WS) just cant have a cc fex w/o good WS upgrades. tusked is a waste. you get one extra attack. maybe 2 or 3 if you charge multiple times. just not worth the points. get some extra gaunts. you should really start further away (to compensate for tyranids, use some cover) sounds like your games arent too official. just cut up some paper into like a square/circle and call it a forest or whatever. or get real terrain that would be cool too.
Both the venomcanon and the barbed stangler are good.
VCs are for long range tank busting
BSs are for crowd clearing
in the new codex the barbed strangler is now for long range crowd clearing.
yeah, forgot that its now ''36
Catachan, your on fire, 13 post/day!
