What are some conversions you've done with Necrons? They don't seem to be to convertible, but the potential is there. Not much though.
All I have is a headless Warriors (bought second hand, didn't have a head), who I have nicknamed "Headless Wonder", due to having taken a nasty chunk out of something (I had the fortune of a GW employee visiting the place where I play, and he felt like making him look good, he did a good blood job on the Flayer blade), and he's taken out a few tanks in his career (ok, one was really him, he was last man standing, the rest were when he was in a squad, I credit him though). I always have him at the front and center of a squad.
And there's my finger lord. A Warscythe-toting Necron Lord, I just clipped the free hand off, clipped off two fingers, and put them back on at a smaller angle. Then I put the hand back on upside-down. And there I have a Lord making a rude gesture. They don't do it often, but when they do, it gets the point across. He don't like you.
My fave conversion is 'inverted hamlet'. I filed the hand of the gauss flayer on a warrior and straightened out the legs. I then took the head (no helmet) of a SMurf and made a new hand out of green stuff, with which i attached it to the warriors stump. It's standing in th classic 'to be or not to be'-pose.
Oh the irony!
The arms and hands are pretty interchangeable, so I have some Flayed Ones with Wraith arms. It's a cool effect.
I've made a number of Lords with different wargear loadouts, the coolest of which is holding his Staff of Light straight out off to the side while he looks up at the Resurrection Orb he holds high above his head. He's the one I put with my Warrior line, he's awesome.
Other than that, the only real conversions I have done with the Necrons are varying the poses.
Now, the neatest Necron Conversion was making my own Eversor Assassin. (Sure, it's not a Necron unit, but he's made up mostly of Necron parts. Pariah head, one Flayed One hand. He's the silent, violent associate of the Inquistor who's always following my Blood Angels around )
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
I've got three conversions.
My Sniper - Over the course of three games, one of my Warrior units took out an LRC, Wave Serpent, Immolator, and a Razorback with a 1 shot-1wound-1 kill Gauss shot. I popped off the head of one of the Warriors and replaced it with a Destoryer Head (left over from my DLord).
My WBB counters - One of my Warriors got knocked off a table and stepped on in a game I was playing. Complete accident, but I put the pieces on a flocked Wraith base and viola, WBB counter. I also took the head of the Warrior I replaced and put that on a similar base for a second WBB base.
My Dynamic Lord - I had a lord that someone had scavenged the Warscythe off of him. I removed what was left of his arm, shaved and reshaped his leg where the rest of the staff connected and replaced the whole arm with the Warscythe from the DLord set. I removed his other arm and flipped it around in kind of a "Come get some!" gesture.
Gyauayuayuayua! Ja! Ve vill crush da little girly men in deir little girl men awrmor! Ve vill see owur enemies driven befowur us, und hear da lahmentaytions of deir wemen. Und from owur home planet, de stayte uf Califowurnia, ve vill lawunch owur mighty offensive. Even if you kill us, ve'll be bach!! Gyauayauyauyauyau!
-Arnoldunit Schwarzenecronegger; when questioned about the impending doom he would rain down upon the heads of his doomed enemies.
i have a similar 'billy no-head' to your headless wonder
also jimmy the dancing necron (re-anlge legs, wave arms in the air)
and the legless wonder- causs rod in stead of a leg
also a load of necrons without legs (just torsos upwards) in different poses- leaning back and firinge, crawling towards their fallen-off arm, holding their head up in the air...
I have taken my old Dark Eldar Ravager and taken off the Eldar, but Warriors in there places, and put gauss Cannons in the place of the eldar guns. I call it the "Gauss Raider" Not very original, any suggestions for other names are welcome.
You could TRY to convert some of them using tomb kings and vampire counts model but the result would be weird. google moloch fleet, he has some cool converted necron.
I know, try converting a Ctan!!
Converting c'tan is too easy. I could field an eldar guardian or a hormagaunt and claim it was the deciever. The fluff clearly supports him changing forms and not being detected as the wrong guy by an assassin (I forget which type, one of the inquisition types).
"I have plenty of talent and vision; I just don't give a f..."
I have a necron woarrior without a head thats falling back as if he's just been shot. I also had a scarab swarm that got broken by my brother. I had the base and the scarabs but not the sticks they go on, so I made them burrowing into a SM one in the stomach one in the chest one in the leg and one tearing out of his forehead, really gorey. I've also seen some pictures in the necron collector's book of lassic necrons and a lord with a tomb spyder body.
"DICE FOR THE DICE GOD!"
And the almighty Dice God said to his followers "Thou shalt not speak ye words "anything but a one" For thou whoever'st speaketh this blasphemy will be cursed with thy rolls being of one".
Currently my flayed ones are converted to look like they stole bits and pieces of Ultramarine armor. I chopped up some Ultramarines and Flayed Ones and worked em over with greenstuff. It's pretty cool having them sneak behind my Ultramarines on my display.
