I've been thinking alot about my Tau army over the past few days and reading all the threads about new units/characters.

To this end i thought up the Tau could use something similar to heavy weapons teams in the IG armies. With weapon options including, Twin-Linked Burst Cannons, Plasma Rifle or Missle Pod. The heavy weapon teams could be either a team of 1-3 or 1 per Fire Warrior Squad.

As for a conversion, i see almost a gun drone on a bi/tri-pod with one gunner and a spotter.

The other idea is for a complete human auxillery army, but i havent thought all the possibilities out yet.

Heavy weapon teams have been thought of, check the other topics. As for the Human Auxileries. I can't really see them getting their own army, as the Tau would have to keep them in check, to prevent a heresy of the Greater Good.

Those heavy weapons sound alot like the eldar to me, and frankly I don't think they're needed.

I think the Tau are good enough, (BS aside), as sitting still and shooting. The tau rapid fire weapon pulse carbine has to be used like a Heavy weapon anyway, or most of its value is lost.

What they need is a higher BS to use what they have, and then some more mobility. That's my oppinion, anyway.

I don't think that mobility is really an issue but definately the BS thing...

But yeah like the idea, sort of a heavy gun drone type thing on a tripod...

As Papabear said, a "heavy weapon team" like you are suggesting sounds just too Eldar. I HATE the Eldar. Damn elves!! Although I did kick there ass in CC with my suits though....That made me happy!!!!!

I think the eldar could be cool, I like hard core elves in fantasy, but GW has run the eldar into the ground so far as I'm concerned. Girly models, weussy this and sissy that.

Their fluff hints at a cool direction for them, the mighty dispossed lords of the galaxy, with technology and power and skill that surpasses all, but fortune has dealt them a fatal blow and so they're slowly progressing towards their final doom. But, after that, they tend to lose their nobility imho.

I mean, the eldar rangers who get ambushed by the kroot in the Tau codex, they're crying! NO! :o  NO! There's no crying in baseball, er, when fighting the kroot.

    Pfft.
