    Lol!

Okay, so I was a bit board with this board as I can't get to sleep so I popped on over to "Tau Online" to look at their board as a guest.

First-Their is some guy asking for fluff appropriate composition rules. This is fine of course and I was interested in the thread. There's another guy there who has the power gamer test linked to his sig, and he plugs it. Another guy summarizes the rules based on that test, and posts it.

This is hilarious because I just took that test a few days ago and e-mailed the creator. I wrote a long, in-depth study of the test, including the results and a copy of my army list, along with what I believed to be right/wrong with the Tau specific section.

A day later I got a reply from the test's creator and he said I was completely right! So those poor saps are working with a broken system! OMFG ROFL!

Yeah, I realize it isn't that great and I'm being overly spiteful, but I don't want to go through registering with them and telling them all this...

Second- I saw you Olainari or whatever your name is! Plugging your Crisis Suit article, shame on you! LOL, JK dude. It was hilarious recognizing it though.

Still, what do you guys think about some guidelines for fluff appropriate Tau armies?

    O'Dev'n

    Fluff appropriate?

Mech Tau or Hybrid. Definitely not static...there has to be a lot of mobility in a fluffy Tau army.

I say Mech Tau, personally. When defending, maybe a Hybrid, but anything else they'd give those Fire Warriors some fishies.

I hate to admit it, but fluffy Tau are mechanised Tau.
There once was a Lord named Vlad,
Who's fighting skillz really were mad.
    He killed and he maimed,
He spilled blood in Khorne's name.
And the fact that he's legal makes me glad

I dunno, I'd have to say semi-Mech Tau is more fluffy, simply because of the existance of Broadsides.

they're both fluffy. if you remember the tau tactics of mantka & kauyon.

mech tau is basically montka where we move up and atk the critical units, instead of staying static and waiting for the enemy.
    Donuts anyone?

Hmmm, I suppose that's right too.

I suppose we don't really have enough hard fluff to really back up or draw and solid conclusions.

I have been caught, oh dear.

Anyway, I did that test too. What was your response to the designer? I was going to write a much quicker response with my opinion. Anyway, I think my list got a 1, which is excellent. So a good list appears to be one that uses crisis, stealths, fire warriors, kroot, pathfinders, and a couple of hammerheads . I think if you stick to the 40-70% troops, more troops choices than any single other category choice, and not more than 25% of any other category, you can get a fluffy tau list.

A sacea list would naturally have lots of fire warriors, crisis suits, and broadsides, and very few tanks.
I unfortunately don't have the greatest memory, so I can't remember any more, other than my Vash'ya list justifiably has lots of tanks. Oh, and Viorla would have lots of stealths and pathfinders. I guess Viorla armies should have photon grenades and emp grenades too.

And that's just with the Kroot.

Why do you say Viorla has lots of Stealths and Pathfimders? I see Viorla as having lots of Firewarriors.

Well the over all result of my e-mail convo with the creator was this:

    1. Troops selections were very different when the test was created.

    2. Crisis suits and their "wargear" shouldn't count that way, we HAVE to arm them and thus shouldn't be penalized.

    3. Hammerheads still shouldn't be fielded in mass numbers you pwoer-gaming freaks.

There were other things, and this is very summerized as we actually talked about a lot of things including rules/poitn specifics, but you can take those points as a sign to take the results of that test a little more leniantly. (SP?)

For example, my 500 army was "wargamer." Easily acceptable.

My 750(s) was "pure wargamer." Okay, but I was getting a bit worried...

My 1000, with only 1 Hammerhead, no Fast Attack choices, and no other form of Heavy support scored above 25!

Now, my armies are not power gamer armies, seriously, go look in the Tau army lists. So with a modified test I would have scored much better on ALL of my armies.

So take the test, if it's a bit high, don't worry about it.

Unless of course you're fielding multiple Hammerheads, tricked out Crisis Suits and a Markerlight Happy Pathfinder Battalion.

    O'Dev'n out.
