Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have finnaly started building my monolith (which means I am done building all my other necrons, yay), and I have constructed it to the point where the fron and rear walls must be put on, along with the guns. my question is, how did you do this part? I am asking because I am unsure wether or not i should prime the guns before assembling or something else... Any help you can give me from your building experience with the monolith would be very helpful. Thanks.
Well my monolith was warped and the walls to this day don't sit quite right, so I had to do quite a juggling act trying to get the guns in. I never painted my monolith just primed black and sprayed boltgun, came out rockin. Just rember that if you don't prime your guns before assembley to rotate them during priming so you don't miss a spot.
The Gauss Flux Arc Projectors (the four swivel-mount guns) are usually primed before assembly because it isn't possible to completely paint the balls after assembly. Personally I didn't paint mine until after assembly. If you put too thick a coat of primer before assembly they won't swivel smoothly. I decided to leave the balls the standard grey of the plastic and only paint the guns themselves. This allowed me to completely assemble the monolith and then paint.
Check the Necron codex and the games-workshop site for tips on building the monolith.
The guns should be primed and completely painted prior to gluing the monolith. That way, when you glue the monolith parts together, the gun is full painted, and will be able to move. If you paint the guns while they are assembled in the monoliths structure there is a chance that the guns will become fixed to the monolith rending them from moving.
