Hey I was just wondering what you do for instinctive behavior with fearless creatures.
It seems as though they would have to take the test--pg28 tyranid codex-- "If you want to move a brood it must first take a leadership test"
Now comes the confusion. same paragraph "If failed the brood will fall back as if it failed a morale test." According to the bgb on page 74 -- "Fearless troops never have to fall back" (not take morale tests which would simplify the situation)
So now they have to take a leadership test, but failing will not affect them.
Now there are four fearless tyranids and each one says something different by there fearless rules. The Tyrant I will ignore as he will always be under synapse controll
Lictor--"driven by the implacable will of the hive mind" pg 38 Nid codex; if it is driven by the hive mind it shouldn't need syanpase as it is driven by the hive mind.
Carnifex -- "nothing can stop...: pg 46 nid codex; totally worthless for my arguement.
Rippers -- "...and hence are fearless and do not obey the the rules for instinctive behavior." pg 41 nid codex; this statement makes it look like anything that is fearless will not have to take instinctive behavior tests.
I just want to know how you guys play it. I haven't run across it yet, but I sense I am going to have to argue about it soon.
Actually, the way the ripper entry is worded makes it sound like anything that is an eating machine does not obey rules for instinctive behavior. I think the consensus is that if a fearless unit is out of synapse, they have to take the test but if they fail they just remain stationary.
Although most fearless units are LD 10 so you don't have to worry about it that much.

fearless and synapse do simliar things but they are not the same. therefor if in synapse range you are not fearless, and fearless models must instintive behaveior when out of range.
just be cause when in synapse range you auto pass all LD tests does not mean you are subject to the "fearless" rules. you are in synapse range, not fearless your models profile.
being in synapse range so not say, mean, or imply that you are fearless, just very similar.

I love fielding 10,000 points per-player. DECOS all the way baby.
Nurgle Demonic Legion: 19W-3L-5T.
Tyranid All Shooty List: 10W-5L-6T
Is it too much when you can field 20k in fantasy?
