I recently bought a squad of Gargoyles just for variaty reasons. As I took a good look at the stats in the new codex I wasn't very impressed. Aside from being 12 point deepstrikers, they basically suck. They are gaunts that move even faster, which is no secret to any bug player. So I was starting to second guess my purchase, but then I noticed the wings for the Gargoyles fit with Warriors. My question to all of you is, do you think it would be in my better interest to leave the Gargoyles alone and play them as is, or would I benefit more so from a squad of winged Warriors?
I think wings on warriors isnt really worth the extra 6 points from the leaping ones.
And whats wrong with gargoyles? They are real good at destroying those damn platforms and heavy weopon platforms. Iv even seen someone take out2 tanks before the gargoyles finally got shot down.
Winged Warriors do have a slight advantage over leaping ones, they are not stopped by terrain (they simply fly over it) and that can make a big difference when keeping up with the faster Gaunts(with the fleet they can leave Warriors behind quickly). In the 4th edition they are not as fragile either as they are now classed as jump infantry.Originally Posted by Catachan Devil
If your army is a fast CC biased list then the winged Warriors are worth their weight in gold as they keep up with the Guants etc and keep them in Synapse, if its a more shooty army then leaping is probaly more valuable as you can use cover more effectively but when you get in CC range you can close fast.
The only thing which annoys me now though is you cant take extended carapice on anything flying which hampers the Warriors effectiveness in CC(though the non insta kill rule does help).
Agree with the point about Gargoyles they are a nasty nuisance unit and can give an opponent a real headache.
maybe you should take a unit of 3 Winged warriors and a unit of Gargoyles that would be a nice compromise.
Any tips on which wings to use when modelling winged warriors?

Warriors: Garg Wings or simlar. There's a fantasy model whose wings look awsome for this
Tyrant: Dragon wings are the usual choice. Blood Thirster wings are also used alot. If you're not entering any tournies use the Naz'gul wings from LOTR.
Dreams give us a vision of a world unlike any we have seen. They present us with a glimpse of a better life; a goal to aspire to, and in the face of insurmountable odds, they provide us with the power to overcome, to live on, and to succeed where we would have otherwise failed.
I believe you're thinking of the morathi pegasus wings. Here's some pics: http://ca.games-workshop.com/storefr...5807&orignav=9Originally Posted by dymew

They aren't boobs, they're lies!
Morathi wings work nicely,, I dont think the Warriors would actually fly rather jump and glide over terrain or jump into assault, a bit like the jump packs on Marines, so the smaller wing size seems to fit the fluff. Anyway thats what I use on mine.Originally Posted by Kinepoo
why does that matter for tourneies?Originally Posted by dymew
I don't know about tourneys but for the Golden Demon, you can't mix Warhammer and LotR bits in your models. Some copyright BS.
