im lookin at 75 give or take 5 troops in a 2000 pt game.
my list did pretty awesomely in the 1800 pt tourney we had in town. i only fielded 60 somethin nids, and i had one win and 2 losses (both because of time constraints). i obliterated a tau mech army and was just about to roll over an all term army before time ran out. time ran out in the game with another tau player as well which really really sucked. my army was just slow. tau and terms were unable to deal with it. but... im still not very confident about my numbers in the list, i mean i love the all around build but the numbers...
anyway give me your opinions about list size and nids body counts.
i play a mixed list cc and shooty.
hmm I'm still a newby to 40k, but the guy that taught me has been playing since 1st ed nids came out...where the old fex look'd like a 4 year olds toy.. I mean lol it look'd like a dung beatle w/ thiker arms, but the point is, he told me to make an extremely well rounded army of nids base it primarily on CC, have some ranged but base it around melee. He also told me that it is possible to land around 230 nids out there, but in order to have a well balanced army it should never be less then 90 or more than 110, he says anything between those to is good if its flat 100 or 5 above or below thats as great as possible, and thats what he said I should aim for, and in my army list posted I ask'd for rating and it is exactly 100
i know my nid list brings in about 124 models to the table, mostly cheap gaunts, and spore mine clusters
yer, that kinda points range, i'm usually spawning like 120 - 130 sets of ravanous teeth and claws. Like Roxy - mostly cheap gaunts and spore mines.
Its always funny watching them scything huge lines out of ur gaunts but more just keep coming. Round 2 / 3, their in combat, and the hurt begins.
"They are coming! I feel them scratching inside my mind, scratching, screaming, running, so many - so, so many voices. They're coming for us - flesh, body and soul!"
sounds good, about the numbers. maybe ill mess with the list and get it up to 80 somethin. why should i favor sooo many gaunts over having other stuff?
i played a quick 1200 pt game against SM
and he got like 20 kills before i got to him
but thats with 20 termigaunts 24 hormagaunts 20 genestealers
3 warriors 3 zoanthropes
so i outnumbered him like 3 to 1....
i did a quick numbers run and for 1000 pts i can get 160 nids on the table
1 hq 5 troops
with the new codex that 100 +/- changes because no one fielded stealers they were expensive and died easly. now they can last longer and are better all around so bringing more of them decreases your model count because they are more expensive.
my list is really balanced because i bring lots of small units. i try to bring at lease one unit of every thing. then it gives my opponent a headache trying to figure out what unit is more dangerous. when really no ONE unit is. this tatic is used so that when they pour a ton of shots at one unit and it goes away your only loosing > 100 to 200 pts.
my list usally ends up on being about 65-75 models and i do well in my games.
I love fielding 10,000 points per-player. DECOS all the way baby.
Nurgle Demonic Legion: 19W-3L-5T.
Tyranid All Shooty List: 10W-5L-6T
Is it too much when you can field 20k in fantasy?
i usually go between 110-120 models in 1700-2000 pts and a little less in smaller battles. it works out really great. no loss yet with the new rules.
"I have seen you humans, trying to forge an Empire in the name of a corpse"
i use about 12 genestealers in my army, just basic ones with no upgrages, for clean up purposes, an amazeing 36 attacks on the charge has been the bane of many eldar lately
in 400 point games i run 40 models
numbers plus qwll equiped fexes and a tyrant are key.
