Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, it's like this.
I was wondering. Tau, having the best Jetpack there is. if that's true, then why o why do only crisis suits, stealth suits and drones have them? I mean, it's near to useless. You have the best tanks ever, but you don't use the technology to lift up ur troops.

1) A page or two back there's a topic called "New Tau Units 2.0" ... it should be revived instead of the bunches of new topics being made for all these new units.
2) If you read that topic, you'd see my "Fire Warrior Exoskeletons" unit, which is very much like this.
Please check the topic out.
How is it different from, "New Tau Units 2.0" Please, we prefer reviving over new topics. There is no reason for this to have required an entirely new thread. Also, you spelled infantry wrong. Still, don't take this too hard, as many of us have started threads that could fit under the New Tau Units thread.
That said, yeah, Jet packs would be nice, but you have to keep in mind how the Tau military works. All those FW's are basically newbies. A few years in training, then "on-the-line" than thrust into hard service. You don't have n00bs high-tec Jetpacks. That's why it is reserved for Stealths, Suits, etc. Unlike many other races in 40K, Tau life spans are actually quite short. Even Humans in the IG can live extended lives through Bionics and such, Tau...not so much. So keep experience in mind please. I don't like the idea of my new 'La recruits splattering into walls. >.<
Sig by:Knape, The Celestial, and Marlinspike, thanks guys!
Others have covered the fluff reasons for Tau infantry not having jet packs i.e. heat, experience ect. The game reason is that if they did have jet packs every other army in the game would be screaming that they needed nerfed. Imagen having entire squads of infantry that could move twelve inches and fire every turn. Tau weakness lays in their poor CC, thus we Tau commanders are presented with a tactical dillema to solve through luck, stratagey, and foresight. If our regualr infantry could move 12" over all terain with no restrictions and still shoot: no army in the game could ever touch us. How would any army except the ultra speedy Nids ever get close enough to get into CC with those guys while they jumped willynilly about the board playing merry'go'round with their poor dunderheaded and slogfooted enemies?....but i digress...this is an idea which i think everyone whoes even read the Tau codex has thought of.

P.S. In refrence to another post in this thread, when and where are we going to be getting an updated list and new Tau toys to play with?
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
I guess you guys are right. It's just, I really liked the idea, and I like the model. so I thought, let's see if I can come up with something. I think I'll ask my friends if I can play 1 squad, but deffinitly not more.
the main problem with jetpacked fire warriors is that any stats people suggest for them always start drifting closer and closer to gun drone squaldrons. If you really want large jetpacked squads i seriously suggest you just field some of them. they can be really awesome.
