Welcome to Librarium Online!
Do anyone know how to paint their Necrons just like in the Codex. I tried to follow the directions they have, but it does not come out right. The Inks are never the right color once it is dried, and it never had the yelloish color to it like that Necron Lord they had. HElp?
A simple, effective way:
Tin bitz drybrushing
Boltgun metal drybrushing
Chainmail drybrush (lighter drybrushing, i.e. little paint on the brush)
NOTE: for models such as the necrons, save yourself some time and use a tank brush...Yes, the huge one. If you make sure it's dry and you remove 95% of the paint, it'll work wonders
black ink (VERY diluted, 3-4 volumes of water for 1 of ink, that may be why your inks did not work well). When the ink is diluted, a good technique is to "accompany" the ink with your brush, i.e. drive the ink into the recesses. It's hard to explain wihtout showing :/
chesnut/brown ink, also quite diluted (2-3 volumes of water for 1 volume of ink), only around recesses and joints.
Then, you just have to paint the weapons and details.
Even better way
Use boltgun metal from GW and due a heavy dry brush. Then purchase Smokey Ink from Vallejo. It does a great job of producing that weathered metal look.
If you're going to ink it afterwards, drybrushing isn't really needed.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
