Ok I've seem a huge increase in the number of Eldar players (especially Ulthwe), so I'd thought I'd do this or we'd do this. The idea is a living tactic book for eldar, you post your tactics and thoughts on certain units/craftworlds etc. But if you're going to post for a specific craftworld (ie Ulthwe) or tactics vrs a certain race then put it at the top of the post.
I'm sorry if this has been done before, but with lots of new players arriving I thought it be a good idea for them to have tactics and opinions from vets to help them on their way. (BTW this does include me slightly, still getting use to the Ulthwe craftworld. I've lost 3/4 games).
Anyway that's what I would like all the vets (and any newbies) to do. So who's first?
Ill get the ball rolling.
Well i play Ulthwe and this is just a tip on general army composition.
At first i took a VERY balanced list. in 1750 i had somehwere around 70-80 guardians. every game, i got my @ss handed to me. Ulthwe shoots. am i correct? yes i am. we are limited to a couple aspects, so use the combo of black guardians and the availibilty(limited) to your advantage
if ulthwe shoots, and shoots alot, then take units that shoot. untis like dark reapers, fire dragons, and war walkers, and of course, guardians. guardians, especially black guardians, shioot alot, especially with the platforms. they also make excellent meat shields. with 5 + cover save and can re roll(fortune) they shiled your more shootier units while aiding in the shootiness. lol
so wat have we learned here fellow ulthwe players? GUARDIANS!!! lots of guardians are good but dont go overboard like i have. i say about 4 squads of 10 with a platform and walrokc qwiht conceal is about right. depending who u fight, war walkers, or dark reapers and fire dragons will aid in the shooty death that is ulthwe.
<insert witty remark here>
Heres a tactic that sounds really good but I havnt tried it on the field so dont know if it actually does. take a wave serpent and have it provide cover for some vypers with CTMs it can advance and take out tanks with the T/L bright lances while the vypers pop in and out of its cover to take pot shots at enemy units. even after the wave serpent is destroyed it still usually remains on the battlefield providing the same cover after death that it did in life.
If you take scorpoins,(which i think you should agaist hoard armys)then if you put a farseer in their with foutune then they get a rerollabe 3+ armour save and they become even more tougher
-Against marines firedragons, and reapers are a MUST, they allow no armor saves.
-If you go against good hth armies i'd suggest taking a option from the harliquin list, seriously They own in close combat, with one solitare i kill a bloodthirster and kharn the betrayer in 3 turns.
-A farseer with eldritch storm can spin tank around to expose their back armor for waith lords, prisms...
just a couple ideas.

I have seen Wave Serpent convoys in large point games that worked with frightening efficiency, rotating troops around the board and making full use of their high movement. Especially with HK squads of Banshees, roving around, killing everything in sight...
Si em, tow en can de lach.
Tak! Tak! Tak ah wan, Tak a lah!
Mi tow, can de lach.
Mi him, en tow.
Well I'm going to add from what I've seen from around is don't take small units of guardians as weapons caddies, they can be pretty good in combat if a warlock with enchance is there. And pretty good at shooting with guide. Anyway that's all I say for now, once I've got more games under my belt I'll post again.
PS thanks for pinning it (whoever it was). All we now is more posts for newbies. So what are you waiting for?
I dont play Eldar but i know how to beat a deamonhunter force with them.....take an avatar and lots of heavy guns and walk towards the deamonhunter battle lines.
he he that should fool 'em........
A Rhino? SLOTH!
This is just a general tactic I've been working on, so far it seems to work but may need a little tweaking:
The whole tactic revolves around disrupting the enemy's advance/firing patterns. It starts by advancing HtH units into the main enemy squads, then (hopefully) they will divert their units to deal with the attack, that's when the rest of the army crashed into the lines, while the fast units harrass the enemy on the flank.

Quick tip on Strike Force.
ALWAYS HAVE A WARLOCK WITH YOUR GUARDIAN SQUADS. Always.
It lets you open the wraithgate via them, AND boosts the guardians.
If a tree falls in the forest, and it lands on a mime, does anyone care?
