This one isn't for me, it's for a friend, he's got a ton of imperial guard, and wants to convert a few to tyranids, like painting them with green/purple veins through their body, and mutating limbs, as well as getting a few ogryn in there.
However his brother who works for GW says that wouldn't follow the fluff since the hive absorbs DNA rather than mutates it, or uses parasites to control enemies.
You think he could get away with it ?

His brother is yet another example for a GW employee who doesn't know what he is talking about...what you described is a genestealer cult, which is part of official fluff, which has official rules and which includes human/tyranid mutants.
Look at it this way, I have converted a Chaplin for the Tyranids and a couple of Marines as well, and NO one has complained so far. So in my opinion, tell your friend go for it!! Would love to see pics of finished results!
do you mean converted for a Genestealer army tyranid army or SM army?
