Anyone else waiting for chapter approved to perhaps give our codex a bit of a boost in certian areas.
I'm hoping well be able to get a S7 hive Tyrand as the Broodlord can get up to S6 and he's not a MC.
Remeber that romour about charging lictors forsing a retreat to non-fearless units that they charge, i think that lictors need this as they hardly ever last a round of combat. I hope this rule or something similiar is introduced in chapter aproved.
Anyone else find it annoying that when given to a Carnifex with toxin sacs a vemon cannon gains no advantages no +2 S non re-rollable dice for armour penetration. I thikn we should maybe get plus 6 inches for every strenght bonous we waste, I mean S10+2 goes to S10 so we should get plus 12 inches i think/hope. You think that would be corny do you? well lets remember that rail-gun a simple 4 and up on the armour penetration roll and you've just just had a land-raider or demolisher penetrated.
Anyone else got any opinions or hopes for chapter approved?
I want to see new rules for the Forgeworld models of larger Nids, like the heirophant, heirodule, etc. I guess thats Imperial Armor, but it would be fun to have some big ol bugs that are actually powerful/worth the points.
Yeah we need thing that are worth there points, I've not yet had a MC that pays for its points or not too often anyway.
I would like to get something for that +2 or +1 S that disapears from a Carnafex i think i would make sence that such a strong creture could throw its vemmon a little bit further.
Yeah i havn't heard anything about chapter approved this year and it is supposed to be anual, it had better be good.
Wow  nice idea on the fex getting more range or perhaps some better anti-armour capability that all would make sence, though may get called cheese anyway.
Lictor's in my opinion are now good for nothing peices of s***, they cant even take out a squad of fore warriors.
A S7 hive Tyrant would be sweet.
TAU suck, Blood angels rule
The only hope I have is for a new FAQ. It's the same hope I've had since before the new codex appeared.
Why do the survivors remain anonymous -- as if cursed -- while the dead are revered? Why do we cling to what we lose while we ignore what we still hold?
Name none of the fallen, for they stood in our place, and stand there still in each moment of our lives.
--Duiker, "Deadhouse Gates"
+6" for every point of strength wasted?
This is ONLY for VCs, right?
Otherwise the DakkaFex will become insanely powerfull.
(ah... avg of 6 hits at 36" range? I would subsequently field 2-3 of them, and probably a Heavy one with trinkets and the +1S/+6" range upgrade)
- I'd like normal gaunts (the 4pt base) to have the option to buy STs for 3 points.
(preferably 2 pts.. but 3 is acceptable )
- A boost to the Lictor would be nice.
Or.. atleast tell us HOW it is "supposed" to be usefull.
- Clarify the TL, rending, "adrenal glands" and bioplasma issues.
- would like to have the ability to slow my initiative if I want to. (ie, have the ability to slow bio-plasma to the normal Init for my MCs, so everything strikes at once)
- Gagoyles gain the ability to ALWAYS deepstrike, regardless of scenario
- something done about the Biovore (cheaper, more per brood, mindless, operate independantly like lictors)
- have the Tyrant guard count as mostrous creatures.
- Id like the various Carnifex Biomorphs for the Hive tyrant
(thats right, I want +1W, +1T .. and the back-morphs aswell)

As of Tyranid 5th Ed. codex I have the Gaunts I wanted. I did, however, loose the sniperfexs I relied upon and they were more important then the gaunts.
Wow, I'm finding myself at a sudden loss of words, which isn't all that common for me.
I don't quite understand why everyone thinks that monstrous creatures don't pay for themselves. I've always had mine pay for themselves in one way or another.
One way to get monstrous creatures to pay for themselves is to make your enemy FEAR your gaunts and smaller creatures. Use so freakin many of them that he'll think twice, heck four times, before he will waste even one single shots on an MC with a living tide of death coming towards him.
Make your opponent have to focus all of his firepower on your cheap creatures or suffer the consequences when 100+ gaunts reach his lines by turn two. People look at the statline of gaunts and think "Wow, those blow", but they don't really blow when a squad of 30 of them hits a squad of 10 Marines cause the Marines were stupid enough to fire the missile launcher they were carrying at your MC.
There are ways to make your Nid army pay for itself, but you have to use all the pieces of the army in conjunction with each other or it won't work.
Even Lictors are useful for blocking the enemies lanes of fire. Not to mention, under the new rules it's quite highly possible for one Lictor to break and run down a squad of weaker enemy soldiers such as Firewarriors and Guardsmen. Remember, if you lose combat you have to take a Ld test, and FW's and Guardsmen are quite adept at failing Ld checks. When they fail, it's almost certain they will be run down since a Lictors Initiative is so high.
that is why i use 192 spine guants. believe me, they tottally forget any of my monstrous creatures and the funny thing is they can't kill that many gaunts. the only thing i use my lictor for is objective denial. i just set off to the side whemy opponet sees it, and as soon as a squad moves to claim a objective it jumps and gets them. after a few games of that, my opponents are a bit more like not to jump on objectives
Yeah an extar 6" for every srtrength wasted an a vemmon cannon, so if you dont bother to give your carnifex toxin sacs he'll only get a extra 6" rather than an axtre 12".
Yeah i'm thinking lictors despite gaining +2 to a cover save, are basicly desighned to die. Sure lictors could easliy amost always catch a group of fire warriors, but fire warrior have be be at minimum a squad of 6. So if your lucky enough to kill 4 of them they could just as easily kill that lictors when thay attack back.
Alos my MC do pay for themselfs for the amount of enemy fire the can absord but it sadens me to see that my Hive Tyrant never gets to bloody his claws.
Do you think there is any chance of use getting extra range for strenght wasted?

I've been re-reading the Carnifex section OVER AND OVER AGAIN and I have a few things to clear up. I think the Carnifex points are a tad high - if they were 75pts basic, they'd be beautiful. The Shock Troops Rule could then be 105pts or less, and then you could easily have a powerful Carnifex less than 200pts. This is only because the standard Imperial Guard tank is 150pts! They have those nasty Ordanance Weapons with Str. 10 AP 2 Ord., and plasma guns, heavy bolters etc. That's a lot for just 150pts.
Another thing, which is constantly annoying me, is the Barbed Strangler's points with toxin sacs. It says 20pts/25pts next to the Barbed Strangler, but the weapon itself does not receive a higher strength. Either the gun gets stronger (str. 9 would be Tank BUSTING!), or that profile stays at 20pts. I know it's only 5 points, but when you have a scythe tail, it is half the strength, rounded down! That means it's only D3 Str. 4 hits, instead of D3 Str. 5 hits, which would kill standard troops on a 2+ .
