For the most part, new models introduced by forge world are balanced, and wouldn't hurt the game by having them in your army. Of course you cannot use such models in an official GW tournament, but while playing with friends or unofficial tournaments, it is always fun / exciting to have a couple of new twists in your army.
One of the things I thought was interesting was the Grot Bomb. It can be taken as a vehicle upgrade on the following vehicles: Gun Trukks, Battle Wagons/Forts, or any looted vehicle, for 20 pts. (Note to the mods, this is a public, downloadable FAQ available on forge world, and I am not infrining on any copy right laws.) It is treated as a s8, ap3 small blast weapon, using the scatter dice (but the first roll may be rerolled), that fires indirectly with a range of 24" to 72". I thought it was pretty good, and thought it might be worth it on some of the things in my army.
Another thing, that is only in the Imperial Armour 2 Book (its not a downloadable PDF), has grot bomb launcha, which is like a buggy (same cost as an unimproved buggy/trak/bike), but has a ramp on the back where the grot bomb is launched off of. Those might be an interesting addition to the army, a small squadron of mobile missile take-off ramps.
The grot bombs would be perfect against marines, crisis battle suits, tyranid warriors, light to medium vehicles all over the place.
In addition to their effectiveness, they are down right hilarious models. Its a grot sitting in a large shark finned missile ****pit, waving their arms and grinning. The fluff behind it is that the ork masters omit the fact the grots will die in the process while giving them this 'honour'. Since the orks lack homing technology, the grots manually steer the missle via joystick/wheel to the enemies location, unaware of their doom until the last dying seconds.
well I dont agree with the last sentance UI belive i read somewhere that grotz do suicide runs becuase they belive the orks will respect them then and that they will be on the same level as orks. Kinda like in jihad how if you die as a warrior aka suicide bomber youll go t heaven with 30 virins or something like that.
Eh joo grot. U wana fly dis shiney rockit thingy? all u got ta do iz aim for da enamy over dere. Look! It's big n shiney. Makes big boom too!
Now, Who WOULDENT want to fly a rockit thingy of doom into the enamy after that VERY "charistmatic" speech?
the best thing is that they are cheap!
