A friend of mine mentioned that he had some old DE stuff lying around. $10 for the box, since he wants to get rid of it. I figured it would be a good start on an army, but it took me a few days to get around to it. I've now got the box, and just finished inventorying it.
8 incubi with punishers, 1 incubi with blaster, 1 incubi that should have blaster but in fact has no arms
4 Grotesques, 2 missing an arm
1 Beast Master + 5 1/2 warp beasts
37 fully assembled warriors, 8 complete warrior sprues
4 Scourges, 2 with dark lances, 2 with splinter cannons
1 Ravager, missing armour on one side but everything else appears to be there
A pile of plastic Warhammer Fantasy Undead stuff and, for some odd reason, a bunch of Genestealer heads.
There are a few bits and pieces missing here and there that I'll have to replace, and a few broken parts to be re-attached, but that doesn't even begin to take away from the healthy pile of death, destruction, and mayhem sitting on my kitchen table. Now all I need is a Lord and I've got a 1500+ point army. One of the jetbikes is painted, everything else that is plastic is untouched, all I have to do is oven clean and re-paint the metal figures.
I am Joe's sense of sadistic glee.
you are one lucky son of a gun. lucky lucky lucky lucky. very very lucky.
Does your friend realise hes just lost hundreds of dollars? You are VERY lucky.
A billion chinese can't be wrong - eat rice.
That's worth alotta money. You got it for $10?
I should clarify. I got it for $10... Canadian.
Considering that we had just wandered through a shop that carries W40K, and that I was actually pointing out the prices of DE stuff, I can't imagine that he doesn't realize how much all that originally cost him. That said, it's all pretty beat up, but I think I'll be able to fix most of it.
He also has a card table covered with piles of Necron parts, and none of it is painted. He apparently has that much again in storage, and wants to get rid of them. I know that he's had most of this stuff for at least three years, he's just never done anything with them.
Edit: I'll probably wait a few months until this army is finished and I have some money lying around, and I'll help him break up all of his Necrons up army sized chunks. I'll buy one of them, and help him put the others up on Ebay. Because nobody in his right mind wants to field three Monoliths.

"One thing that intrigues people to fantasy is how different it is from reality. Make sure you remember that difference, and you'll have a wonderful time."
