a friend of mine has just started using orks and he is finding that his warboss armed with a power claw (and slugger) is next to useless. as an IC he must be in base to base to strike but with I of 1 due to power klaw, the rest of us are removing the models in base contact at a higher I step so he dosn't get to attack. this is very frustrating to him but we can't see a way around it for him. is the answer just to give him a chopper?
is there a way around this that my friend should know about ?
if not how would you suggest arming/ using a warboss?
thanks in advance.

There's actually already a thread bouncing around here somewhere about how to properly arm your warboss (one of us will have to bite the bullet someday and write out a short article or something, I guess... =D).
My biggest suggestion would be to give the poor warboss a PK AND a choppa. That way he can pick and choose whether to use his impressive strength or impressive initive. You'll also be able to get the WAAAGH off that way...
Who does he typically fight against, if I may ask? 'Nids, eldar, etc?
"Some days you're the Mekboy building the kannon, the rest you're the grot being blown up by it."
- Quote attributed to Sorkrates, before his much mourned death due to ingestion of Hemsquig Juice.
"Dis iz my choppa, and herez me gun. Dat's for killin' and so'z dis one!"
- Bloodaxe Kommando Warchant
well i use SM and Tau , and he will also come up against CSM , nids, Necrons and sisters in our gaming group... oh and Death guard if i ever get them finished!
why any opponent specific tips?
and is there any way for him to take a Burna? because they seem the best weapons you've got
in general then is it better for the warboss to focus on cc? no ranged weapons?
i'm sure my friend will appreciate any other related advice from 'youz dat know betta..'
Unfortunately for your friend and his War Boss he can not take the burna as it is a Mek boy only weapon, except of course for the boyz in certain mobz where they are allowed this special weapon option.Originally Posted by 606lyonian
As for the warboss being better if hes focused or not, thats merely an issue of opinion.CityBeatnick is right, there is a thred on this, I even posted on it, quite a few times(that is, if we are talking about the same thread here)But my advise was this, in general your friends strategy and method for using his war boss is going to be the deciding factor, I personally take my warboss in a whopping thirty Slugga Boy mob so deciding between choppa and slugga was no problem, he has 30 choppas backing him up. So I decided to give my WB a fancy Custom Slugga with the works S5 Assault2 AP2 at 6'' range, Nasty! but I digress. Conversley with such a cumbersome squad, I dont nececarily always get the Waaagh!, but with such a big mob(or "War Boss delivery system" as I call it) I've insured that I can get assaulted and still win against most anything. Then again, your friend might not bring him in such an uncomromising horde, he may bring him in a War Trukk wich means he'll usually be giving the assault rather than recieving it meaning if he Waaghs he'll be atacking at initiative8! (My God!) and in a smaller mob he's definately going to want to consider th PowerKlaw/Choppa combo just to have the option of S5 I8 against high number yet still dangerous foes like Genestalers. Well anyway, thats my two cents. Sorry for the long post.
" Are you gonna bark all day little doggy,
or are you gonna bite? "
easy solution PK and a Choppa when you want to strike at I4 or I8 if you pass the waaagh test if you dontf eel the choppa will cut it and you know you can stay in B2B its turn for the PK.
My warboss is rather lightly armed, slugga/choppa,ammo runt, big horns, boss pole, attack squig, and what ever the name of the armor that 'ard boyz wear, but he is a beatdown machine.
Nobz are given armor, slugga/choppa, bighorns, boss pole.
My question is this, Which is better for a warboss, Bionic bounce or a cybork body
