Ok I have read the rule book 4th edition a few times and the rapid fire rule is still something of a contetious issue amongst me and my friends. Ok as I understand it with a rapid fire weapon you can now move 6 inches and fire one shot up to maximum distance, but if you stand still you can fire two shots at 12 inches or one shot at full distance is this right or wrong ?
Also I was looking at the pathdfinders with rail rifles and am defintaley going to include them in my army at some point, however i was wondering what it would be like to include a battlesuite version like a plasma rifle with extended range ?
IIRC, you may move 6" and fire 2 shots at 12" or do not move, fire 1 shot at maximum range or 2 at 12".Originally Posted by sirtom
If you are first starting to play Tau, don't get Pathfinders yet. They are an expensive unit that is somewhat difficult to use. Wait until you have more experience to use them. What exactly are you talking about?however i was wondering what it would be like to include a battlesuite version like a plasma rifle with extended range
Half Gods are worshiped with Wine and Flowers. Real Gods are worshiped in Blood.
Blood for the Blood God! Beer for the Bronze Keg!
Move: 12" range only (NOT 15" someone is going to say that eventually!).
Stay still: shot at full range.
You just got a little mixed up.

There's a quick reference sheet on page 256 of your Black Book. Near the middle of it is a block labeled "Non-vehicle weapon type summary." Your answer is there, very clearly stated, under the "rapid fire" weapon type entry.
The main entry for the rule is also on page 29 of your Black Book.
