Help if any can be offered.

This may be a strange request, especialy coming from me, but I need some suggestions for a 1500 pt list against a nid player. Geared to giving the nids a run for their money but most likely losing in the end. I am thinking of using Biel Tan for this game, which is far off from my Saim Hann riders...

For obvious reasons, A fun army to go against the nids would be mechanized eldar. But, here's the twist: Waveserpented guardian defender squad.

That's right, 9 guardians + 1 warlock with destructor X 6. And starcannons on the serpents. Take some falcons and fill them with firedragons if you can fit it.

Only problem I can see is that you're most likely going to win a straigt out secure and control but if it was objectives, you might have some trouble since over 1/2 of your army doens't count as scoring units.

Use a Wraithlord and plenty of Banshees or Scorpions. Or you could use a lot of Dark Reapers and sit back and pummel your opponent until he gets to you.

You could probably just take large numbers of Banshees, back it up with a couple Vypers and an avatar, perhaps w/ Council.

Your avatar and council will be a tough unit, but will probably loose to a Carnifex in CC, Banshees will slaughter alot of gaunts, but get over ran eventually, Vypers will do some damage but fall to a decent amount of shooting.
Everything I have told you, even this, is a lie.

Farseer with Witchblade and Fortune, Leading 9 scorpions and an exarch. No gaunt variant will reach your firebase, better yet, take 2 unit like this.
Wraithlords w/ Starcannon kill all but the toughest tyrant, spray stealers with basic weapon fire, and starcannon his fexes, jobs a good 'un!
Eldar are one of the nastiest armies to tool specifically against someone due to their specialist nature, if you know what you facing you should walk it.
Ask not a question of the eldar, for they will give you three answers all of which are true and horrifying to know.

Ok so next time I'm looking to win I'll be sure to use some of those options with my normal army. (I abstain from the use of wraithlords under the guise that they reduce the overall mobility of my army.)

So Dunklezahn, got any ideas that would have me losing in the end? That being my goal and all... Its really something to give confidence back to veteran players facing the worst coping with some of the newer rules. I'd normaly use marines for such a task but I'm reduced to 20 of them at the moment. Besides, eldar are one of the best despite the age of theirs, the de, and ork codex's. So a win against them is a greater challange then against any band of space marines ever will be.

I just played a game this past weekend against nids and i found that if you set up a disposable squad on front line, just out of reach for first turn assault so you can get at least the first round of your star cannons pounding in. use the disposable squad next turn to move up and lock his troops. try to have this set so that you don't get wiped out on your turn. the goal is to keep him from moving next round. they get to you much quicker than you would expect.
war walkers next to a farseer on jet bike casting fortune.(starcannon starconnon starcannon).
vipers set up in seperate units ("""""""""")
    falcon (""""""""")
fast ranged weapons, circle around out of thier assault range and keep pounding. use you speed while distracting his troops with your disposable guys. may as well use storm gaurdians cause more than likely you will not get a chance to shoot a catapult at range 12". use the 2 attacks instead.
if you have a chance target his synapse creatures first. if you can get rid of them it's pretty much over.
watch out for gene stealers and RENDING CLAWS. they will do alot of damage.
i woudln't spend to much on aspects cause they will get shredded.
do not try to mach him up in cc. use the eldars advantage of speed, fire power, and pshycic ability.
that is my basic theory on this match up. fool around with the little details and good luck.

Well thats the thing, once you have the advantage army wise a few bad tactical decisions can be used at your choice, a few of these more formidable units mean you won't wipe the floor, but bizarrely it's easier to lose from a superior position as you have the freedom to make stupid moves
' my scorpions after slaughtering the gaunts charge your carnifex!'
Depending on how familiar they are with the nerfing you could use some of the weaker units but they might suspect that you taking a dive
'face the 3 5-man shining spear army of poo!!!'
A few of the core units that slaughter your opponents less emphasised units, if they use gaunt swarms, drop the scorpions, field guardians they won't get to shoot.
That way you could kill his fexes but his gaunts would overrun your lines and you lose.
Like I say, it depends just how convincing you need to be on your selection.
I should have expanded on my earlier comments, those units are the nid-breakers, maybe a few of them for convincing your serious with just enough gooey centre to give it away.
Leave a hole in your defences, like an absence of Ap2 weapons and damn, dont ya know it, the fex and tyrant got through!!!
Ask not a question of the eldar, for they will give you three answers all of which are true and horrifying to know.

Striking scorpions are very useful vs nids, a squad of 10's mandiblasters should drop 4-6 little bugs/force armour saves on big stuff if you live by averages (as I do) also their high initiative helps to at least strike at the same time if not first and the scorpions claw can take down carnifexes/tyrants, not only that their 3+ armour stands up better than weedy guardian 5+
