Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am in the market for either a hammerhead or a broadside...and i need to know which....my army consists of
Three Crisis Suits- One ususally a Shas'el
6 Stealth Suits
Several Shield Drones usually attending to my hq
I think a broadside would benefit me more at this moment since my main opponent is IG and i need a cheap Basilisk Killer. But hammerheads have a great survivability. I also play against Chaos, SMs, and Nids
Another questions, since my HQ has IC status, what are the pluses and minus of shield drones in that situation, besides the fact that they can take hits. And what about shield drones in general.
On the the second part of the post.....anything, post a complaint, something you think that GW should give or take away from the tau, any idiosyncracys that you think the tau have, stratgys youd like to share, ANYTHING
Well for one thing you cant take more than one HH if your using Oh'Shova. and on that point why oh why are you taking two special characters in your list, thats 275 points and for what?Originally Posted by ArcticPhoenix
Farsight is a CC option and basically so is Aun Shi and Tau are not in any way shape or form CC, git rid of both of them Farsight means compulsory limits to the list and Aun Shi is just not worth the points. use the points for somethin good and of use.
Your FW sound fine (good fire base), what fits do your XV8's have??, Stealths excellent, Pathfinders are a total waste in your list, just what are they markerlighting for??
Lose the shield drones they are in a word CRAP and expensive (take shield gens instead if your xv8's are in CC with power weapons you dont lose the protection if you fail a save, only a wound).
So get the HH but you wont be able to if your using O,Shovah.
nonono...thats just all the guys i have....i almost never use oshovah and have yet to use aunshi, i just got them for fun games and the occasional use everything you have game with my friends
Besides you can't use both of them in the same game since O'shava can't have any ethereals in his army.
Any way you look like you have a force of stand and fire guys with several mobile crack squadrens. I personally would go with the hammer head. I like these a lot more since they are much harder to kill and are much more mobile and I don't like tailoring armies to destroy certain people. You might want the cheap tank killer though.

Anyway, there's a thread on this already, and it was an overwhelming response for the hammerhead. This is of course different, you have posted what you own and already own a hammerhead.
Funnily enough, I'd still recommend the hammerhead, but I really don't think it matters.
what the duck does AUN mean? er ethereal! this as stupid as terminators dont have termiantor armour! it just unsporting and we have all ready had the dev crew say that its in the name.Originally Posted by T0nkaTruckDriver
Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree it's stupid. Totally lame and unsporting to boot. If anyone tried to pull that on me in an actual game, I'd smack 'em and take my minis elsewhere in a heartbeat.Originally Posted by Lanfiex
Farsight's not overly worth it...
the hammerhead is definately the way to go...
alot of people build squads of broadsides, but IMO, they're too slow to be effective...
Pictures of the Smigs Army for your amusement....
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women"
"JESUS SAVES! the rest of your models each take a wound."
I think Smigs has the right answer in this case: Broadsides are awesome if you want to make sure that NOTHING wanders out into a particular lane of fire and lives, but they aren't really very capable against things like Basilisks, which tend to hide behind the biggest rock they can find and lob shots at you the whole game.
If you need to hunt Basilisks and make sure they die, take another Hammerhead. You've got three Heavy Support slots, why not use them?
Also remember, though, that Basilisks have newsprint for armor. Pulse Rifles can hurt them, and that means that everything else in your army can hurt them too. A Hammerhead is nice to have around for that Railgun, but I'd almost call it overkill for taking out a Basilisk/Whirlwind/whatever when a Missile Pod-toting Crisis Suit can do it cheaper and probably more quickly.
