Hey im making the jump from SM to Nids and I was wondering is thhe battleforce worth the money? Do you get enough models to make agood swarm army?
Also if anyone could slip me some good advice on tactics against SM armies.?
"They shall all taste OBLIVION!,.....which tastes like Red Bull, which is disgusting."
i just bought the battleforce and it's contents is worth $200 (AUS) and was only $150 (AUS), so in that regard yes. if u're happy to use everything in it in u're army than it's a good buy.
some advice against SM is get lotsa of rending attacks, i.e. genestealers. terrain is u're friend, if u hug it well u'll get into combat with atleast half u're army left and from there it's all yours. monsterous creatures do will as they don't allow armour saves in combat and can take a big beating, as well as dish it out. staying on MC don't try to mix their roles. i.e. combat and shooting. generally for their cost carnifex's are worth their points at shooting, either barbed starngler and venom cannon, or 2 twin-linked devourers. i use one cheap cc fex as it draws fire and if it gets into combat it can do some damage before it gets taken down. other than that u're armies up to u. i hope this has helped. welcome to nids and happy hunting.
I considerably prefered the old 3rd edition battle force since you saved so much more money in the USA. The new one is still quite good though and comes with a carnifex which is a nice thing to have if your a beginner or expert.

The battleforce is a good buy cause it gives you lots of models that you'll need... however you'll need tons of more models to make a swarm army.
If money isn't an issue then I'll recomend buying 2 battleforces, 2 gaunt boxes and a broodlord to make a fine start. You'll come up to about 1500pts+ with that.
That would work well- plenty of synapse and 32 of each gaunt, not to mention 16 stealers and 2 fexes.

For a VERY solid tactica, look up the ones done up by Hourglass a while back. He was pretty spot on with most of stuff, (he covers both non specific tactics and some army specific stuff, overall a good read).Originally Posted by Cypher_RedeemedIf money isn't an issue is a BIG part of that one.Originally Posted by zhaf
