Rockets vs. Big shootas
I always assumed it was better to put rokkits in the slugga mobs and big shootas (or twin big shootas) on everything else. But I was wondering if it's not better to put big shootas in the slugga mobs and use rokkit buggies, since i assume it's better to re-roll a rokkit shot than a big shoota shot?
But I can have up to 3 rokkits in a slugga boyz mob anyway, and the big shoota's come cheaper (I think) on the buggies.
So what's your opinion? What's the best bang for the buck, as they say?

i thought sluggas job was to get into cc as quick as possible
you cant fire at a tank then charge annother squad so youll waste your rockits on inf.
id assiagn other squads to tank hunting since sluggas happy place is in cc not wasting a full boy charge by shooting rockits at a tank

I usually do Rokkit Launchas, because IMO in the long run its more versatile than big shootas. There are a few reasons for this, which I will explain.
First off, the big shootas ARE good, but only agains light infantry armies, such as eldar, IG, nids, etc. However, usually those armies have the infantry as distractions for their amazing tanks or (in the nids case) big bugs.
Rokkits are cheaper, and overall more effective against 3+ armies which are ever so common (marines, necrons.) plus they serve as anti armour against their deadly tanks.
Orks themselves are anti infantry, and since orks lack heavy anti armour, its always a good idea to have LOTS of rokkits, as not only are they very good against marines (you are guaranteed to get points back unless somehow your mob gets annihilated). My 3 rokkits per mob usually kill at least 2-3 marines before reaching combat, so that right there earned 30-45 points for the 15 points it cost. Plus, if any predators or leman russes come by, you have anti armour that 2 rounds of firing 3 missiles each should have a good chance of blowing up.
PLUS big shootas cost more than rokkits. Burnas, IMO, shouldn't be put in mobs for a foot slogger army, as it is very unlikely orks will get the charge, its better just to arm everything to the teef' with rokkits.
what the hell kinda ork player are you? the first guy is right, rokkits on buggies is the best choice for them. or tankbustas, for the cost of two buggies you can have 5 or 6 tankbustas with four rokkits with tankhunting.
the bigshootas are the best for anyone...even shoota boyz, no matter what the boyz are gonna end up in combat, so big shootas for all. i've killed more space marines than that with big shootas! no other army hasanything that compares with it.
I try to get a blance between the two one with BS other with rokkitz but if i have odd number of squads i take rokkitz over the BS
I'm planning on starting footslaggaz soon. Which is better for killa kans, rokkits or big shootas?
Killa kans should have big shootas: they have weapons at no extra cost, so you save a few points by giving them the more expensive big shootas, plus they have S10 and power attacks in CC anyway!
My skarboyz have flamers, I have a unit of tankbustas with rokkit launchas, and 2 mobz of boyz, usually one with rokkits and another one with big shootas.
The sheer quantity of big shootas...shoots is enough to put marines down if necessary. I find them great against light vehicles: land speeders, vipers, this kind of stuff.
I'm going to have a buggy and a slugga boyz mob (well, 2 actually) and a couple of killa Kanz in my first 400pt army. So--I should take rokkits on the buggy and the boyz mobs, and big shootas on the Kanz? I'd put big shootas in the boyz mobs because they're easier to convert--but then I'd only have one twin rokkit launcha on the buggy, and I'm concerned that that's not enough. Even with the re-roll.
But I think I'll try that and hope for the best to start. If it's not killing enough tanks at 400 pts, then I'll add lots of rokkits when i expand to 750. And I'll add some Kannonz as well!

if your going to add extra two handed weapons make sure they are burnas they work better with the unit selection of slugga boys
big shootas, are good with slugga mobs, only slugga mobs. who is gonna have a super powerful tank in 400 pts. the one rokkit is enough. if you are worried about tanks put rokkkits on the kans. they are more of a fire magnet if they have anti tank or anti marine weapons.
