I'm want to start a Tau army (I already have a Dark Angels army, but I'm up for a new challenge). The thing is, I really don't know what to get for my money. For now I have about 125 euro (which is about 80 pound), not all that much, but it should be enough to get me started. I've considered buying the Tau Battle Force, but I'm not sure wheter I'll use the kroot, since they are still pretty lousy H2H troops, then again, the Battle Force plus some extras (a ethereal as an army leader and maybe another Firewarrior squad or a Devilfish tank) make for a decent starting army. Can anyone give me a couple of pointers here?
In the Us the battleforce box contains 3 crisis suits, 8-12 drones, 12 fire warrior, and 16 Kroot. It doesn't contain any vehicles to ethereals. It is considered a good deal here. I can still find places to get all GW products at 20% off. That's as low as they can officially go.
If you do get the battleforce then you should get some more fire warriors. Then maybe some stealth or another crisis, and then a heavy such as a hammerhead or a broadside. That were it starts getting expensive.
So a Battle Force, another 12 FW and a couple of stealth suits should get me started, al of it led be an ethereal?
Next up the list, broadsuit or hammerhead or maybe I should get a devilfish for one of the firewarrior squads to deploy in?
Thanks for the help Tauofwar
i'd take the battlesuit HQ choice instead of an etheral. for a start you get them in the box and once you kit them out they are seriously nasty
in general i'd say get a hammerhead before a devilfish, i've never had that much need to bus my fire warriors around
less hate more kittens
Get a boradside, then when you get the cash, get a pathfinders team. This combination scares every opponent I go up against. It's not as mobile as a hammerhead, but its more lethal.
Id asy no ethereal, and get stealth suits and more fire warriors then a broadside or two.
