Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm planning on attending an event at the local GW BB, and I was wondering if you fellow Lords out there had some suggestions.
The event is any 2000-pt army against 12 SM. Now while I first look at this I'm laughing to myself, 12 Marines against a 2000pt army, but then I realize that they will be tooled to the teeth. Has anyone run up against anything similar to this, or do you have any suggestions on what I should bring to the party? I normally don't bring my Monolith, but I think I might, just to get the second WBB rolls. Any help would be great.
Most likely you'll be looking at a 12 model "movie" space marine list in which case a storm bolter is something like Assault 4 Str 6 Ap 2 rending or something along those lines. Your best bet is gonna actually be a nightbringer methinks if this is the case because it's the only thing that will stand up to any of the models.
Well, since I don't have the Nightbringer (I never really liked his fluff, and I wanted to be different) I guess the Deciever will have to do. I think the Storm bolter is an assault 2 weapon, I may be wrong. Isn't the assault cannon the one with rending?
The only guy who would be getting into CC would be my Destroyer Lord, with several Scarabs to soak up wounds.
My game plan is whittle him down with Warriors, Destroyers, and HeavyD's. Charge with a Wraith squad if they get to close to my troops, to slow them down enough to get the Lord into position.
Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't even think of my C'tan.
The reason he's giving you some "other" stats for the weapons is because a while back in a WD I believe, there was a "movie" Space Marines army list. Basically, they're like the fluff - making them godlike on the table.Originally Posted by Eastie04
Which also explains why there are only 12 of them.
Yeah, if it is indeed the "movie" space marine list, there is a lot to be careful of. The frag and krak grenades are deadly, the marine's stats are inflated hugely so that they are made to reap it in combat, better saves (including invulnerables) and when they die, they go out with a bang that can lead to more enemy casualties. The makers of the list stress that the "movie" marines is not balanced, so I can't give you a good idea of your chances.Originally Posted by Eastie04
oooohhhh....... Thanks guys! Sorry for nit-picking there Hatter. I didn't know what I would be up against. So it sounds like I'm screwed no matter what I do, huh? Oh well it should be fun! I'll post my army and my opponents army on Thursday.
