Hey Orkies, just thought I'd share a funny expereince my boyz had on the weekend. It was a pretty unique event but if anyone else knows how this would be handled officially or how you've handled it, I'd love to hear about it.
So my trukk with painboss and borks in it is cruising up the middle of the field toward some ultramarines, followed directly behind by my chimera full of burna boyz and Da Boss. They end the turn with the trukk in a gap between two rocky outcrops and the chimera behind it. Some of you are probably already seeing what's going to happen next....
That's right, the bloody smurfs immobilized my trukk, then on my turn the chimera broke down, some stupid grot pressed the big red button and it shot 8" forward. Nowhere to go but straight into the back of my trukk. We didn't know how this worked, whether the chimera just stopped against the trukk, or if both were pushed forward or what.
We eventually settled on a new house rule: Each vehicle in a crash takes a hit at half the S of the AV of the other vehicle. So the trukk took an immediate S6 hit in the rear armour, and the chimera a S5 hit in front. Chimera was fine, trukk was immobilized again whixch meant it was destroyed, allmy borks jumped out and rolled abysmal saves, and all but 2 and the painboss were killed. Also the chimera was now stuck behind a wrecked vehicle.
This catastrophic loss turned what was looking like a draw or even possible vctory for me into a loss dammit!
Anyone else had something like this happen. It seemed weak and unorky for the two vehicles to crash with no damage to either so we didn't want to just have the chimmie stop behind the trukk.
wow that sucks pritty hardcore
I think you handled that very well robotnik. If I remember there is a rule in either this edition or last about vehicles ramming each other. But if you can't find it, that seems like a very fair house rule.

Yes, 40k definately needs rules for ramming! But not too good or without risks of course, we don't want the battlefield to be a crash-car race...

There's rules in the Cityfight for pushing vehicles out the way, I think it depends on Front Armour values. A Land Raider or a Leman Russ and push anything out the way but a Rhino ain't gonna move a lot.

So rules wise you performed a tank shock on your own tank (which is not allowed). If it were allowed you would have had to stopshort with a 1" seperating distance because of the tank shock rules for an immoblized tank. Once the truk was destroyed you could have driven over it because a chimera has a higher front armor value than the trukk (it would just be conisdered difficult terrain).
Not to judge your house rule, but I think a better rule would be to give the general the ability to pronouce his immobilised vehicle a wreck so that you can make the difficult terrian terrain test for driving over it. But the game works rule would be for you to get up right behind it and wait unitl it is destroyed (which you can't do) or to make the long trip around...I am starting to wish you could shoot your own guys because of this post.
All information came from pages 68 (wrecks) and 70 (tank shock) in the BGB.
dude i feel for you...but i have to say i have my share of bad days too...but thats another story though
That might not be the truth for some people.....we don't want the battlefield to be a crash-car race
nichodemus10, last I remember the looted vehicle shooting forward was not actually considered tank shock. (unless I missed something) As far as I've recalled its movement with a possible downside like what Robotnik ended up with...
Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand; I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.

i feel for you also, in general you should have stopped short unless you added wreckling balls and rams to your vehicles that give it an attack value. Without an attack value you basically tank shocked your own vehicles and i believe the vehicle with the highest armor value just pushes the other one out of the way... not destroying it.
If it makes you feel any better at gamesday my friend rolled for scatter on a necron deepstrike and thought you could still "get lost in the warp on a double 1's roll" turns out you can't get lost in the warp any more...
