    what to buy

Im looking at starting up an eldar army..woot. this will be my first 40K army so im jsut wondering waht i should buy to start it out. Preferably a list of priorities would be good. Also I am still undecided for my army choice. Im torn between altaioic, ulthwe and biel tan. Just wondering if any are very un user friendly. Or you guys could tell me to screw off and go play smurfs (preferably not though).

Let's see: DO NOT PLAY SMURFS! There.

You'd probably want to get the Battle Force if you want to play Ulthwe.
Get a lot of rangers and Guardians for Alaitoc.
Buy some Howling Banshees or Striking Scorpions for Biel-Tan.

Well, being Eldar, none of the lists are really all that user-friendly, though they can all be extremely powerful.
Alaitoc and Biel-Tan have the more unconventional styles of play associated with them, Ulthwé plays the most like what you'd imagine a normal army would play like, with the Seer Council operating in concert.

Alaitoc requires careful target selection and deployment to overcome the lack close-combat ability and the low numbers of the standard troopers. Biel-Tan relies on speed to close in on the enemy quickly and, more importantly, units operating in tandem to complement their individual highly specialized natures.

You might want to start off playing standard Codex: Eldar, you can get a feel for each unit and then maybe advance to start playing a specific craftworld. Other than that, Ulthwé is probably the least specialized of the craftworlds.

Playing elder requires lots of practice and I wouldn't expect to win alot of games no matter what kind of elder army you play (kinda like a right of passage thing) cause it takes alot of learning (the hard way) to get things right. But its really which army you enjoy painting. As expensive as the models are you don't wanna hate painting them.

Also, read the tactica sticker we have at the top of the forum. It'll help you to choose what you want to use, and teach you how to use it.
