Yes. What makes you think that it could be different?

Consider it just as another Tyranid with a bioweapon. They can only shoot once per turn as well. And that's how Spore Mines end up in play, the only other possiblility being if a scenario enables Preliminary Barrage.

Some of the bioweapons are assaultX weapons meaning you can fire more than once per turn. That is one of the beautiful things about Tyranids.....

On Raveners you want the six weak attacks unless you are fighting a mob of orks or something where the Deathspitter's template attack would make for multiple hits on seperate models. You'd have to get two models under the template on every hit for it to be better than the devourer.

    I'd prefer the scything talons.

If you shoot, then you lose the charge bonus attack and one attack in EACH subsequent round of close combat.. Since the close combat attacks have a better strength, are rending claws and hit most opponents on 3+ i clearly prefer these over the average three S3 hits.

Devourers have a range of 12". Remember that Raveners can move 9" and that's in the Movement phase. Therefore, if the Raveners are close enough to use the Devourers, wouldn't rather be winning the battle in close combat by then? Keep in mind, everything changes once you're against, say, a Wych Cult. Of course, then it's more safe to shoot with the Devourer.

The Biovore can only shoot once a turn, if you look in the codex it says that he is Heavy 1.

I see this has gone off biovore but, then using ravener chargine after shooting you get 4 attacks scything talons and rending claws, but then against an opponent with light amour(or does devourer have ap -?) 6 attacjks at range 12" and then 4 close combat attacks, if you have quite a few raveners the squard would be decimated(of course there would have to be luck involved here, with BS 3-4 is it?(sorry i didnt bring codex to school)Spare time) when you attack with CC without charge bonus.
