Is there a legal way to model Ripper Bases? I ask because GW defines them as 4 little rippers on a base but I was going to make mine with 3 rippers on a base since the ripper army list entry has 3 wounds.
I know that the wound amount doesn't necessarily correlate to the number of models and that the rippers are a "swarm"... so I'm sure this is a case of, whatever looks good.
as far as I know there should be enough models to fill the base. I would think 4, if not 5 rippers would be appropriate. ( personally I like 5 because odd numbers are more appealing to the eye. Ask a landscaper.)
I'm just trying to find the cheapest way to make them look good and be legal.
you could probably use 3 if you put some other bitz on the base to fill the empty space.
I am not 100% sure this is legal though......
If you look at every picture of Rippers they all have 5 on their base. It doen't say this anywhere in the codex, but you can see the intention was 5.
Thanks guys, looks like I am going with 5. Besides, I have the money and it looks better!
Swarm Modelling Rules:
You MUST have a single model on each base for each wound the base has. Since rippers have 3 wounds you only have to put 3 models on each base. So save the extras and just buy more bases!
I do not criticize. I do not offend. All I offer is my opinion which means only as much as you make it.
I think rippers are awesome especially if you give them leaping I use three on each base, 3 for 3 wounds. It does look better with 5 rippers to a base, and i'd have 5 on each base if they wern't so hard to get your hands on. They should make a ripper swarm box or Blisters. In short, i want more.
I'm sure you can still buy the old rippers from the GW Online Store.. they are even more alien-ish and grotesque than the plastic ones... you can also use the Necromunda ripper-jacks...
$2.00 a pop.
$3.00 for ripperjacks. :*(
