Welcome to Librarium Online!
This rreally botherrs me.
I recently went to a tournie ( I didn't play). There were two Necron players, and both played like mornons. One player charged his Flayed One's into an Eldar Wraithlord, deep struck his 'lith on the board so his reserves dies, and charged Holwing Banshees with Warriors instead of RFing at them.
The other Necron played did just as many stupid things while playing against Orcs, doing things like turbo boosting his Destroyers so they could get charged on the first turn, and other dumb stuff.
Then, the only two White Dwarf battle rreports with Necrons both players choose the stupidest lists(no res orb vs Space Marines), and then almost seemingly intentionally suck it hard when playing, doing really stupid things.
Why are all the Necron players that use our great army in public or in published artilces such idiots!! They all make the Necrons look like idiots.
idiots come in all shapes and sizes.
if it helps, I have 2 RTT best overall with my necrons and so many 2nd and 3rd place it is laughable.
We're not all public idiots.

Wow. that is pretty bad. Why did his reserves die due to DSing 'lith?

Well, the reserves came in on the same turn as the lith, and he dropped the lith onto a huge eldar unit and beside a wave serpent, blocking his portal. He did this on prupose. No where for them to appear. They die!
I didn't think you could DS the lith and use the portal in the same turn. I can see how you could use the portal after the lith DSs to teleport a unit that has already deployed, but I don't see how you could bring in a Reserve unit through it on the same turn.
I do not criticize. I do not offend. All I offer is my opinion which means only as much as you make it.
I think there is mention in the Cron Codex that if the Lith is deepstruck, and Warriors held in Reserve as per their special rule come into play the same turn, they must enter play via the Monolith.
I can't remember exactly as I don't have my Codex with me, but I think it's under the Resereves rule in the Warrior entry.
Gyauayuayuayua! Ja! Ve vill crush da little girly men in deir little girl men awrmor! Ve vill see owur enemies driven befowur us, und hear da lahmentaytions of deir wemen. I think one of the reason you see a lot of bad players using necron armies is that its an easy army, and a forgiving one, IMO.
What i mean by this is good weapons, with lots of chances to kill vehicles and armored opponets.
Great save rolls and lets not forget the we'll be back roll, makes em pretty tough to kill.
realitively easy to paint.
These are all traits that will attract people that don't want to work for a win, have no head for tactics. I have asked a lot of people why the don't play the necrons and most say the same answer...to easy, not enough of a challenge.
One of my good buddies has a necron army and he rarely plays it anymore cause it isnt a challenge for him to win anymore with it.
But to many people in the game with any army do stupid things on the table because they rely on the army and not tactics to win. I think alot of it is that there just aren't alot of necron armies out there to be showcased so they are left to talk about the bad necron armies.
That being said i have seen a bunch of battle reports about necrons with good player thrashing opponents.
Could not agree more with you. There are lots of bad players out there trying to find the uber army. There is one local fellow who makes his army whatever thr RTT winners use, exactly.Originally Posted by lighthorse19
That being said, necrons have theri cool toys like anyone else. marines with drop pods, Eldar with lots of starcannons and reapers, iron Warriors and pie plates, etc...
I have found that necrons are a bit of a challenge to play consistantly well. Sure you can make armored companies soil themselves, but what do you do against hordes, or deep striking assault termies. The challenge to me is to outmanuever my opponenents and keep up shooting.
I love necrons, they are fun to play and when played well, they usually don't lose.

I am one of those bad players, although I don't play whatever army wins the tournements, I'm trying to find a balance of easyness to play, cool fluff, and feeling like i've earned the win.

Well said, lighthorse19! You are right on!
I think that sums it up. Where are you finding your battle reports?
Still, the two times they have appeared in White Dwarf, they suck it up big time. On that grand a scale, why pick such horrible players? Players usually play so smart, and the fights are so well done.
