Hello, i discovered this site while at school (It was not blocked by our blocker, praise the lord) And i noticed how knowledgable everyone seems. So I thought before i get ready to make my Tau guys, i should find out some tactics you vets might know about. Just a few questions
1) Whats a good tactic against Godzilla Nids? My friend is getting a buncha carnifex who are very melee based and alotta warriors as well, complete with a fresh topping of gaunts and genestealers. I'm trying to make a mobile tau army to counter this. What do you guys think i should do against him?
2) I am also facing a Khorne user, I dont know much about them, know anything for them?

Well, against the Nid player, you're going to want speed. For that, I suggest Crisis Suits with Plasma Rifles for the Big guys and your choice of Missile Pods or Burst Cannons for the little ones. However, I would recomend the Missile Pods on the Crisis Suits. Take two units of 2 of these guys, a Shas'El or two, and a squad of 6 Stealth Suits. These guys will rip apart any Gaunts or Genestealers they get in range of. I also suggest 1 Hammerhead with Railgun, and 1 Hammerhead with Ion Cannon. The Railgun can put slugs into the Carnies, or Sub-Rounds onto the little 'uns. the Ion Cannon can put 3 AP3 shots onto the Warriors.
Against Khorne, basically the same thing.
Remember, Fire Warriors have one of the best base rifles in the game. Use thier range to take out as many as you can. Also, 20 Kroot, a Shaper with Armor, and 8 Hounds in cover are a tough unit to beat in both shooting and melee.
Half Gods are worshiped with Wine and Flowers. Real Gods are worshiped in Blood.

Nids are definetly a close combat army, as for Tau we not particularly good at cc. so to counter this our units make a great shooty army. The first thing you must do is not let your opponents move his troops any where near you. Kroot may help the cc problem and help some what but its best to take an indirect approach. Lots and Lots of Hammerheads and battlesuits will do their jobs in taking out a carnifex and most of the hormoguants. If playing a +1000 point game i always like to take an ethreal, as they provide my troops with an extra boost of courage. That is just a very breif explanation of how to play against Nids, as for Khorne if dont know much but you may what to look into a khorne forum and see some of their tactics to see how a basic army might look. Well also, my friends arent totally huge into 40k yet, by that i mean game wise not army wise. For example we are gonna use legos for terrain (Although they are good with legos) and they dont like to play objectives, they just wanna play Kill Kill Kill games, so i'm reluctant with the Kroot because of the lack of cover.

For the cover problem, simply make them use cover. Get some card board to put under the legos or something. Or if you get some rocks or something you can use them.
It sounds like you want a MEQ tau force, a very mobile tau army. For your crisis suits put plasma rifles, missle pods and multitrackers on them. If you can put your firewarriors in devilfish. Stealth suits are good too but you don't need them to start out with. The hammer heads are very nice and are hard to kill since they are skimmers. Kroot are good because their basic gun is a good gaunt killer and they are good enough that they can beat the lesser nids in cc. The kroot rifle also counts as a cc weapon so your getting a lot of attacks for the points you pay. If you use kroot give them the extra armor.
With the gun drones that you get from the fire warrior and crisis packs, I suggest making a squadren out of them as they are extremely mobile guys who can pin and hit a lot with their twinlinked pulse carbines. If you can get the battle force it is a good deal, as is the fire warrior + devilfish set but they might not sell that anymore where you are
He has cc carnis!:lol: That is an easy problem to solve with tau. Those fellows are too slow to do much so just blast away with almost anything but kroot and they'll fall before they get very close. Remember, in nids, the faster it is, the faster it needs to die. Your playing tau so a squad of gaunts can be as destructive in cc as a carni so focus on the fast fellows first. Unless its like a flying tyrant or some stealers that are just as fast as the gaunts, then they need to die.
