Welcome to Librarium Online!
I couldn't understand why all people prefer dracons instead of archons. Archons have one more ws(It means he will hit all SM chars to 3+) , one more wound (more resistant to drugs) , higher In (Librarians with familiars must wait!) and one more attack. Lets see that...
If we take dracons becouse of they are cheap , think why we are taking drugs at 25 points? If you have choosen even 3 of opions at same time (+1 a , +1 Ws maybe plus in)
Dracon cannot become powerfull as arcon (ok , usually people does not take In and ws , but with dracon , i have needed to take them!). And a dracon + combat drugs is same points as archon...
I am little confused. Can anyone tell me why do you take dracon instead of archon?
2 dracon is better than 1 archon and its also cheaper, so have a reaver lord and a shadow field lord on raider with wyches. so you dont have to spend lots of points on a single lord.
dracon + dracon = Archon +1. besides having two Hq will put the enemies noodles in knots. you can strike anywhere on the board. so the archon is hitting with 3s if combined with wyches she will be hitting on 3s aswell, since there in the same squad.
I personally prefere to use both an Archon AND a Dracon.
I find that the archon is well worth it (personally). for just 25 points extra, you get +1 to WS, BS, I, A, W and Leadership. Thats a deal you just cant beat (in my opinion). That +1 wound is also crucial for what I use him for.
I stick the archon on a bike, give him shadowfield, power weapon, T-helm, and drugs. When I roll for my combat drugs, I take the +1 attack, +1 strength, re-roll misses...as you can see, im gonna roll doubles at least once (if not twice) per game, and that extra would is paramount. A S5 lord with 6 attacks (re-rolling all misses) on the charge is how I like to start off my mornings.
What do I do with my dracon though? The only reason why I bother with taking another lord is so I can get full use out of the incubi (while regarded as too much of a point-sink by some people, I find them to be VERY useful). Since a lord is considered an independent character UNLESS accompanied by a retinue, giving my incubi guarded dracon a shadowfeild is not necessary, as your opponent would need to cut through all the incubi before they could pick out the dracon.
This is what works for me, but as they say, "different strokes for different folks". just because i like it, doesnt mean you have to.

I am using same archon. And I think a dracon is only for taking Incubi.
Funny that, I see it as the other way around. Well......... At least fluffwise, the incubi would be guarding the most important guy (archon) while the dracon goes of trying to prove him/herself by going or her/his own killing stuff.
But then again you could have it like the archon is supremely confident in his/her abilitities so he goes alone and he sees great promise in his dracon and wants to keep him/her alive at all costs (incubi) but in this case, the archon would probably hire Drazhar or atleast an incubi master.
