Hi i'm a necron player and i'm playing a nurgle guy in a week from now over at my local GW and im wondering what kind of tactics i should use against this guy. He is probably one of the best players at my store in terms of strategy and army building so i really need to know what im doing to beat him. He always takes a squad of chaos termies and a defiler with indirect fire into his army. The rest he tends to change up from time to time. So any help to try and beat him would be appreciated.
Maybe destroyers are good?
They are str5, that hurts nurgle better than str4 normal guns.
And those things are fast and have longer range than most nurgle weapons, so pretty hard to assault, so you can try to outshoot him.
note: I ve just made this up, i never tested it myself.
Chaos does not need explaining! guess what? Chaos cannot be explained!Originally Posted by BobaHat

But their main problem is that they have AP4.
Personally, I'd just go for the nearly unkillable list (oh how I hate this list):
lord with res orb
lord with res orb
Flexable and nasty, if uncreative.
You have just recieved the Amish Computer Virus. Since the Amish don't have computers, it is based on the honor system. So please delete all the files from your computer. Thank you for you cooperation.

yeah, i agree with the 'lith idea. I actually play both armies, and I know that nurgle has a tough time penetrating tough armour. Their regular troops could only do real damage with melta guns, so just try to keep further than 12'' away from those guys until they are taken care of.
I also agree with destroyers. I would keep them in the back part of your deployment zone and target the marines. They don't have the range on you. Plus, you can still wound on 3s, which is much better than the 5s you'll need with regular gauss. I wouldn't worry too much about the defiler. It's only worth shooting it at your regular marines, but i find that most players want to target the destroyers first. And the pie plate isn't big enough to target more than one or two of the destroyers, and they can still get back up with an orb nearby. I would just make him come to you.
Nurgle actually play into the hands of the Necrons. They are tough, we are tougher, they have firepower, ours is a little better. And we can get back up.
The Defiler is can be a rear admiral in any game, but Necrons have the Res Orb to counter that somewhat. Don't kill yourself trying to stop it, just look away while he shoots and hope for the best. You can always use your lith to help there too, as it can give you another WBB chance.
I would bring one Monolith, and load up on Destroyers. Try to have a solid group of Immortals too. Their 24' range will be key. Don't be too eager to charge into combat, let your Destroyers and Immortals wearr at him for a couple turns. On a short table, the Destroyers can take out the Defiler, 12 move plus 36 shot, they can cover 48 inches in one turn. Your biggest problem will be the Termies, but if you can just avoid them as long as possible you should be OK.
kk ye it's a 1000 point game but ye as far as models go i have a lord with staff of light which im finishing off rite now. 29 warriors, 6 immortals, 3 destroyers, 2 heavy destroyers, a lord on destroyer body with warscythe, 2 wraiths and 7 scarab bases. Yes i noe i don't have much but any ideas on what i can do with that?
