Ok, before I ask for help, Id like to make you all aware that I own the codex, its on my CPU right now, I am going to say that so noone just goes "read the codex"
I have 1 lord, 60 warriors, 4 destroyers, 1 havy destroyer, 1 monolith, and a messload of scarabs...
I usually play with several full squads of warriors, my lord in the middle, a deepstriking mnolith when possible and the destoryers as swooping troops to hit flanks...
Id like to learn to play better... what would be a good thing to add to my army? Any alternative lists you guys know of would work with my stuff?
"Goebbels was in favor of free speech for views he liked. So was Stalin. If you're in favor of free speech, then you're in favor of freedom of speech precisely for views you despise. Otherwise, you're not in favor of free speech."
youve been legal pwned
just a few quick thing off the top of my head:
- don't always deepstrike the monolith, it's not necessarily useful.
- you have a lot of warrior,s but that also means you lack long-range firepower. I'd definitely add more immortals and destroyers.
- if you plan on using that many warriors, play with two lords to maximize the range of your orbs. Also, VoD become an essential tool to get them out of combat and shooting the assaulting unit.
hope it helps
Having that many Warriors, you will probably never have to buy any more.
However, you will from here on decide what style of play you gravitate towards.
Speed, Resilience, or Psychological Warfare.
The Necrons are very capable in any of these fields.
If you want to play a Speed-Based army, you will want to add some Wraiths, a Destroyer Lord and buy some more Destroyers, along with some Immortals.
With this, you will be able to have most all of your units Deep-striking, moving like Jetbikes, or having a means to teleport. Even the Dark Eldar would have a hard time keeping up with you.
For a Resilient army, you'll want to buy another Lord, some Immortals, and some Tomb Spyders. With that, you'll have a number of Orb-protected Warrior squads assisted by Immortals and Destroyers for long-range firepower and supported by Tomb Spyders. This is the Necron army you commonly see in tournaments. It marches up the field, shrugging off the heaviest blasts, and disintegrating the enemy once in Gaussing range.
The Psychological Warfare army, my personal favorite, is also the hardest to play.
You'll want a Destroyer Lord, some Wraiths, some Pariahs, some Flayed Ones, and the Deceiver. The rest will be Warriors protected by your Orb-toting Lord.
The center of the army is, of course, the Deceiver and he will operate in tandem with the D-Lord & Wraiths, the Flayed Ones and the Pariahs to force as many Leadership checks as possible. The Pariahs will ensure that many will fail and the speed of the D-Lord and Wraiths will ensure that those fleeing units get run down and destroyed.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
-to play better i would sugest only deep striking the lith against shooting armies, against armies that want to assault you, keep it on the board, so you can get out of CC. i would also suggest a VOD to help move those warriors out of CC, or up close to a shooting oponent. also, you want to get more desroyers, you should already have 9 if you bought 3 battle forces to get the sixty warriors. i would get multiple squads as it gets you a lot of mobile long ranged fire power that can affect multiple units.
-in my opinion there are two types of oponents you will face, those who try to shoot you, and those who try to assault you. aginst shooting oponents you want fast untits (d-lords, scrabs, wraiths, VOD immortals) and the ability to teleport your warriors to the enemy (lith , VOD). for oponents who will assault you, you want couter charge units (ctan, flayed ones, tomb spiders), long range (destroyers, heavy destroyers), and the ability to teleprt your warriors out of close combat (lith, VOD). one of these two startegies will work against any armie in the gane with some tweaking.
Procrastination- hard work often pays off over time, but laziness always pays off now.
Indifference- it takes 43 muscles to frown, and 17 to smile, but none to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.
-Votewar 40K III= 1st place
-Votewar 40k mini= 2nd place
-Votewar fantasy 2= 2nd place
I supposse it all depends on the style of play you wish to use.
I prefer a highly resilient list with lots of warriors, immortals for fire support, scarabs for speed and pariahs for cutting through things like those annoying chaplins.
I try to keep wargear and options cheap and I don't bother with monoliths, C'tan, flayed ones, wraiths , tomb spyders or Destoyers.
I keep it slow and tough, using a standard phalanx I can cut through almost anything with only shooting. The pariahs are there just in case somebody gets froggy and decides to try and deep strike to get to my lord. mant a terminator and oblitorator has gone down to my warscythes after a full on barrage of guass love.
Anyway, best thing is to decide how you want to play, and then go from there.
THE BEATINGS SHALL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES
I beat my friend (orks) for the first time a few weeks ago by using a legion army. 1000 pts, 46 warriors. Ooh, yes. I basically dug in behind a low wall and shot. The orks, as they were CC dependant, kept coming at me, and once they got to within 12" I shredded about a third of the army in one turn. He tried to flank me with bikes (what a flanker), held them off and killed them eventually. With so many warriors, I also didn't need to worry about WBBs once he did get into combat.
This type of army can also work well against Tau- they have nothing important and costly to focus the big guns on, and so have to be content with firing their railguns at a measly warrior, and once you get into CC, you can overpower them with numbers.
Armies that I would not recommend this list for are speed armies and range armies.
