Hello all! I only started playing 40k a month ago and decided to collect the Necrons cuz'....I'm a Terminator fan!! You might have seen my intro post in the intro forum.

So far I have the following:

1 C'Tan Deceiver
1 Destroyer Lord
1 Necron Lord

2x11 Necron Warriors

6 Scarab Swarms
3 Destroyers

1 Monolith

Played a few games against my friends' armies. Of all of 'em I find the Ultramarines, Thousand Sons and Biel Tan the most difficult to beat. We usually play 750-1000 pts. Any tips and suggestions on how to play against them is so totally more than welcomed

I'm a 40k noob so go easy on me pls hehe

Get more warriors or you will very quickly phase out. I dont believe in cheesy armies but that is totally against fluff. Gods and massive [yramid things dont wander around on a small mission. C'tan should never be used in under 2000pts and a monolith in 1000-1500pts.
While there are no actual limitations on what sort of things you can take in different armies when you find out more background you will find things like that are totally wrong.

In a small game something like this would be better

Necron lord
Warscythe. Res orb

5 Immortals

3x10 Warriors

9 Scarab swarms

2 Tomb spyders

3 Destroyers.

Are you aware of the phase out rule.
When you are down to 25% all models phase out.
It would be effortless for your opponent to destory the main part of your army.

yeah I am aware of the phase out rule and I am aware about not fielding C'Tans and Monolith in under 1500pts game. However I just cannot resist how cool the C'Tan and the 'Lith look

HEHE Ifeel your pain. However after a few games of gettin yer but kicked, you'll slowly come to find out they don't look very good as they're phasing out. While I'm not saying you shouldn't take a 'Lith in 1000 - 1500 points, you definitely need MORE necron units to pad your phase out total. whether they're Warriors, Immortals, Fayed Ones, Wraiths, or Destroyers is up to you.

i would take out the ctan. its more pts then a lith and less effective. wheter is taking and shrugginf off so much fire, plus u can get a full squad of immortals and rip apart anything within 24 inches. or destryoers for that matter.

sorry for the misunderstanding but I have never used the C'Tan in any of my games so far I should have told you this. I don't have deep pocket but in a 750 pts game here's what I usually field:

1 Destroyer Lord with Res Orb and Warscythe
2x11 Warriors
3 Destroyers

Those add up to 746 pts.

The most prob I have is against Thousand Sons. Yes they are slow but they are so powerful (2 Ws, some long range power wpn can't remember the name, he gets to reroll any missed hit, Wind of Chaos, Bolt of something...).

Using the monolith is mainly a bad idea because it is a huge point sink, as people have said, but it also draws fire like Kathie Lee Gifford at an NRA convention. My suggestion is, if you are having trouble with assaults, bring four or five Pariahs and load up on Flayed Ones. Pariahs are a bit more fragile than Immortals, as they can't get up, but they are MUCH better. Same gun, better CC weapon, higher Strength, higher Initiative, and they are Soulless. That means if you park 'em behind Flayed ones and charge the enemy, they (the enemy) have to test against Ld. 7 EVERY TURN or they only hit you on 6s. Nice.
Si em, tow en can de lach.
Tak! Tak! Tak ah wan, Tak a lah!
Mi tow, can de lach.
Mi him, en tow.

my army cost about C$200 bux including the codex, paints, etc.

yeah I have been thinking about including a "fear effect" army by using pariah/flayed ones combo but the pts needed to field just those 2 specialized units are pretty expensive. but to hell with pts i will give it a try
