Well.. by the name.. what ork type should i get?
I am Narcotick. Fear me.
LO Musicians clan.
Apples or oranges?
Goffs and feral are pretty similar- ferals are really goffs to the extreme, with very little shootin power but LOTS of guyz.
KoS are the complete opposite of both armies- fast, precision strikes with vehicles. They are more fragile, and require more skill to use, but are overall more competitive when used well.
Got to disagree with you there. As a snakebite/feral player, don't count what twenty BS3 shootas can do to your enemy. In fact, ferals are really just guardsmen with a worse save and a higher toughness.Originally Posted by darkhand
Until you start using madboyz. Madboyz are a completely different story.

It really depends on your style of play, I think. KOS are fast but don't have the same staying power. Goffs are bulldozer tactics. Ferals play differently altogether.
KOS are easy to start by buying the Battleforce. Goffs just need boyz, mega nobs and some Dreads and Kanz.
There are a few considerations here. I play Ferals so I am somewhat biased. What is it you like about Orks? I love the conversion and modeling potential Ferals offer - made a warboss on a super cyboar with Tau parts for legs. I scavanged a few dozen parts to get my Brutes right. I changed the poses of eighty madboyz and have two Squiggoths. My boatboyz look really good I think and I added big red needles to all my pigdocs. I'm still only half done. I like fielding 100 models in a 1500 point game. Of course, getting them all on the table is really tricky! I picked Ferals for their looks and fluff as I had already built an Orcs and Goblin fantasy army and the squigs and other models could be transformed to Ferals. I just like the look of them and the unpredictability of a Feral force. You live and die by your die rolls moreso than in other armies.
However, some think sixty to eighty madboyz slogging up the board is somewhat cheesy - I think that it is just a knee jerk reaction to the sheer weight of numbers. Tactically you are somewhat limited even with the many troop choices as most just send grots up field with the boyz following. Boarboy nobz, squig herds, huntas and Squiggoths are really for flavor and the boyz will win or lose most battles.
Now I have friends that play Speed Freakz. This is an army that can beat anything in 40k. It takes some experience to play these boys well but it is a mobile and devestating force when you get to know them well. I've seen my friend take apart almost anything with them and of all the Ork clans, I think they might be the most competitive and challenging to play. They bcertainly love tearing beakies apart.
I am not familiar enough with Goffs to comment but they remind of the old school Orkn armies we used to play byears ago. Seems they would be good fun.
Kult of Speed are a no no in my books they get wiped out too easy for me. I'd recommend feral orks but my primary race is tau so that's kind of biased.
