I only have 30 points left to spend on my shadow seer.
Do I take the D-field or rictus mask?
The D-field seems great, making everyone hit me on 6's instead of basicly a 5,6. But I am not sure how many guys will be left standing that can hit me back after I charge them.
- Has the D-field help you guys alot?
- Was it worth it's 25 points?
* I could drop my neuro disrupter and get both, but it just seems like a really awesome weapon.
I'm not going up against any greater demons or anthing like that. The rictus mask seems so much more powerful after a combat to make people take the LD test on 3 D6 and then destroying the squad. Plus getting the -1 LD for the regular mask of fear.
What do you guys think?
I will most likely be playing against mostly marine players.
against marines, go with the D-field. even if you beat the marines in CC (which you should) and you chase them down, they dont die (they shall know no fear). In this case, it is more valuable IMO to make them only hit you on 6's (since you cant chase them down and kill them anyways)
My 40K Armies:
- Thousand Sons
- Mordian Imperial Guard
- Dark Eldar
My Fantasy Armies:
- Lhamian Vampire Counts
I also say go with the D-Field. To me, the D-Field is one of the more important upgrades on your IC's, especially if you go HQ-hunting. It's nice only being hit on a 6, believe me.
Honestly, I've never thought that the neuro-disruptor really had much use. I generally stick to a simple shuriken pistol and another weapon, to go hunting people with. So, to me, it's not worth it.
The neuro disruptor (on papper) seems pretty nice wounding most things on a 4 and AP1 with template. I think it is a super valuable weapon and being able to slow tanks down automaticly is nice too.
This weekend will be the first weakend to test it out. I finally finished painting most my Harles..they take forever!
Anyways I will take the D-Field...thanks guys.
Lots of things seem nice on paper, however, I find that keeping your expensive IC's to one cause - in the case of a Shadow Seer, pure CC. Death Jesters, pure shooting. You can deck them out either way, or both, but that's how I really prefer it. Keeps their points costs pretty reasonable (for a Harlequin anyways) while still maintaining their effectiveness.Originally Posted by designer891
Incidently (as a marine player), you might like to know that the "They shall know no dear" rules does not prevent Marines from being destroyed if caught whilst fleeing. Whether you can persuade them to run (now that many armies count their leadership as 10 all round thanks to the new codex) is a different matter...
with weapon skill six and them having half weapon skill basic marines hit you on a six already. Its only the HQ that will hit you on a 5+ but is it really worth 25 points to change that?
nope, the worst you ever can get on a to hit roll is 5+ and the best 3+, re-check the rulebook!Originally Posted by LordLink
i´d go with the D-field since marines got excellent leadership(you´ll face them alot!) and also much is fearless etc etc etc...
but more often than not i dont take any of those two.

I've had my harles for 5 years and I havn't really even started on them. I kinda halfassed did a squad of 6 for a painting competition... no diamonds or anything special just bright colors and I'm really disapointed in them now because they arn't as detailed as they should be. Of course I didn't even come close to winning anyway so it was a waste of my time and a waste of models for me. My shadowseer im working on however is a work of art. Yesterday I spent 5 hours just painting in all the soul gems and finishing up highlighting, now I just have to finished is crystal base. I'd like to see a finished harlequin army that you guys have completed!Originally Posted by designer891
But anyway, D-field, you will learn to love it because you don't get any armor saves if your wounded. I rocked a squad of Grey Knights, then massacred into storm troopers then I ran behind a building and killed the Daemonhunters HQ with my solitare... All because they couldn't hit him.
