I am looking to start a new army. A hoard shooty army is what i am looking for. Imperial guard and Tau are in the lead. Give me reasons to choose Tau over the imperial scumbags
Becasue Tau are blatantly cooler.
In a helpful way, if you're gonna do Tau, wait for the new Codex to come out. It will be out around january-ish.
If you are oh-so desparate now, the Tau have a HUGE mobility advantage over the IG with their jump troops, transports, and tank. Even kroot are kinda mobile with their infiltrate and ability to negate woods.
And your avatar is wicked the core awesome.

Well, I won't sit here and try to explain why one is better than the other because, technically, they're all designed to be equal. It all boils down to how you play. So what I will do is you give you my best, albeit short, description of the Tau. Don't worry about this new, advanced race with high-tech blah blah blah. Their fighting style is the focus. With the Tau, you will receive insanely high strength weapons, longest range for any standard troop, and fairly high mobility (Feel free to back me up on this, all you Mech. Tau players.)
What you definitley won't get is units that are worth a pile of beans in close combat fights (Even Gaurdsmen are better.) or very good with WS; basically, anything referring to fist fighting and not getting scared, so that means Leadership, too. Also, they haven't been around near as long as the Gaurd, so don't expect a gigantic assortment of models to look at, although I think they have some of the best conversions a la' Robotech. I like them because of how they look and how they play. Plus, the XV8 is hilariously good sometimes (Look, it was funny to me when they nuked a smart acre squad of Space Wolf scouts.)
Anyways, someone will probably dis-agree or amend what I said, so just keep an open mind.
My how much more receptive people are in the Tau forum compared to the guard one. Yes i like the mobility and such of Tau. I think I will have to go to gamesworkshop and memorize the codex and read them all while i'm there
"For the greater good!" that man!
Tau from a breif glance look puny, brittle and feeble minded.
But it's all a facade!....
I collect the Tau, and have finally found my playing style with them.
Recently I've found myself outnumbering orks and IG, and I didn't lose any hard hitting firepower.
So with careful tweaks here and their to your army, the Tau can actually really really really hurt people.:w00t:
Admittedly I a bit of a flop when it comes to battling the Necrons, DAMN their shiny hides!(
Tau are a little bit like Eldar, move in quick throw some firepower on the enemy and leg it before you pwned, but Tau aren't as mobile so they make up for it with much more firepower. And besides they have some damn cool models.

I play Tau because of thier cool models and heavy firepower. They are mobile compared to guards but static combare to armies like eldar and dark eldar. But we can outshoot them.
All in all Tau is one of the best well balanced armies IMO, and they have stealthsuits.... I love stealthsuits.... they are so cool

:w00t: "Here they com-m-me,
Sneaking down the stree-e-e-et,
Get the creepyist feelinn-n-ng,
At everything I meet!
Hey-hey we're the Stealth suits!
We keep on sneaking aroun-n-n-nd.
When we're not busy sneaking.
We usually mow everyone down-n-n-n!
ETC, ETC!!!
Ignore everything but the "Necrons" and go for a Phase Out. Outmaneuver what you can't kill, pin what you can't outmaneuver, and drop three Ionheads, eight Markerlights and some Fusion Guns on his basic warriors.Originally Posted by Pug
A lot of Cheesecron* armies have WAAAYY too much big stuff in them and their Phase Out is going to be something like ten kills.
Also remember: he doesn't get WBB rolls if you kill everything within 6".
*- A Cheesecron list looks something like this:
Destoryer Lord with Warscythe, Res Orb, Veil of Shadows
10-15 Destoryers and 3-5 Heavy Destroyers
5-10 Necron Immortals
10-20 Necron Warriors
5 Scarab Swarms
(Pick one: Tomb Spyder, Flayed Ones, Wraiths)
