Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm playing my friends 1000pt eldar army and he has 3 wraithlords any advice on how to bring them down would be helpful.
4 x crisis suits
24 x Fire Warriors
8 x Gun drones
4 x Stealth Suits
1 x Hammerhead
OMG if he is using 3 WL ina 1000pts game he is a cheese master!
well.. shoot it!
or even better refuse to play VS 3 WL in a 1k pts match.
Wraithlords need to be hit with high strength, low AP weapons, so the perfect answer is the fusion gun, give the 4 XV8's fusion / plasma and multi, If you have a Shas'O or El definately give them the fusion and plasma, use thier superior BS to cause wounds.Originally Posted by Steve6749
The fusion will wound on 4+ but the Plasma only on a 6+, but if these do wound the Wraithlord gets no save.
Target one at a time until its dead and then go onto the next, with 3 wounds you should kill one a turn no problem, also which weapon do you use on the HH if its the Ion target the Wraiths with it but use it first before the XV8 this way if you finish of a wraithlord your not puting the suits in danger by sending them in first, If your using the Railgun use it to target the other parts of the eldar list with the subs first and use the solid shot to take of a last wound from a Wlord if needed.
Also dont underestimate small arms fire 24 rapid fire shots can take a wound of a Wraithlord.
Use the mobility of the XV8's and Stealths shoot at exactly 12" ( XV8 ) and 18"(Stealths) and then jump back 6" behind cover if possible, use this tactic of jump shoot jump on one Wraith at a time if possible and whittle his wounds away(easy with the fusion and plasma's low AP)
So my advice give the suits Fusion / Plasma and Multi for 3 high str, low AP shots a turn.
If you have an Ion HH use it to target a Wraith first (before the XV8's)
lastly if you have a Wraith with one wound left use a unit of FW or the Stealths and try to take the last wound.
Concentrate on killing one at a time (concentration of fire works wonders).
Last dont ignore the rest of his army.
In fact tell us your XV8 weapons fits, your HQ choice and also let us know what the rest of his list uses, then we can advise on kicking his cheesy Eldar in to touch.
Hope this gave you some pointers

to kill a Wraithlord
step 1 - find a mouse trap
step 2 - set mouse trap
step 3 - place wraithlord as bait
step 4 - wait for mouse to take bait (hopefully the wraitlord will get caught in the trap too)
if that doesn't work, there's always.....
step 5 - leave wraithlord sitting on a plate at a wine and cheese tasting

I am not kidding when I say you shouldn't play him. One Wraithlord is disputed frequently. 3 is downright not fair for that game size. I would play 3 only in 2000+ points. Sure, you could kill them, but the rest of his army will eat you while your distracted.
The only way to make it fair is to play on a HUGE board. Like 4x8 deploying on the short sides. Or, proxy your crisis, as broadsides. A team of broadsides can kill 1 'lord per turn.
Dont worry, wraithlords are easily the most argued thing on Librarium. And this case is a good situation that supports they are cheesy.

yeah, three is a bit overkill...ESPECIALLY for just 1000 points.
I have a friend who uses 2 of them in 1500 point matches, and usually its not too hard for me to frag one early on and then just avoid the other one (they're very slow moving compared to the rest of his army).
If you do play against him though, I'd suggest doing whatever possible to get rid of one of the wraithlords early on in the game, and then try to avoid the other two by pooling your forces on whatever side of the board his other two wraithlords are not on. This is of course assuming he spaces them out evenly. If he groups them all together, then just try and avoid the whole group in its entirety. If he groups them all in the middle though...hope for the best (thats about all i can say about that).
Either way though...you can always just play the cheese card on him and refuse to play. I doubt anyone would consider you lesser of a warrior for doing so...on the other hand, if you face him and win, then you will be revered a great war hero and then you can always rub it in his face that YOU BEAT HIM AND HE WAS USING A COMPLETE POWERGAMING LIST.
Either way, best of luck to you!

Avoid them. Getting 1 WL is fine, no one should say anything. 2 is pushing it and 3 is really into the blue. I have a golden rule, if you play someone that is being "cheesy" you cant blame them, you can only blame GW. Telling someone that the rules they have in their book are BS is as unfair as exploiting them. That being said there is no rule that says you have to play this person.
Whenever this topic does come up though there are those that claim that 3WLs can be taken down "if you know how to." Although I dont know where those people are right now...
One thing they haven't mentioned, DO NOT use the Hammerhead Railgun on it. I know, this may sound odd, but it will have INFINATELY better luck dropping pie plates onto the rest of his army, Guardians especially. I bet he has Starcannons or Bright Lances on his Wraithlords too?
Unfortunatly, the only way to beat that UBER Power Gaming list is to make your own powergaming list (I don't care what else he has, 3 Wraithlords is power gaming to the highest degree). Fusion Blasters are a good way to go, and if you could even get a Broadside or two in there, that's all the better.

I really don't get why people complain alot and cry cheese. I don't play 3 lords, but if I wanted to I don't see why somebody should refuse to play. EVERY army has some sort of BS they can throw at you...adapt. I know in the "spirit of the game", 3 lords doesn't really fit as it is a pure winning army, but hey...Eldar seriously lack in alot of areas where most armys *cough* marines *cough* can use almost anything to do anything, and have access to whatever might be the weakness to the Eldar. THAT alone justifies 3 lords as far as Im concerned, but no...it's not really "in the spirit of the game."Originally Posted by windowlicker
