Welcome to Librarium Online!
My World Eater Chaos friend has a Necron killer list. It is pretty good.
Beserkers and more Beserkers
Deamons with Power Weapons
He tooled them up to specificlly kill 'crons. Looks pretty solid to me. I would not want to face it!
I might have to fight him with it soon, 2000 points I think.
Has anyone fought a list so bent on Necron destrouction? How have you done?
erm...maybe you should be a bit more specific....but I would go with a monolith to decimate
the beserkers, get heavy weapons to deal with the expensive daemons...and flayed ones are my favorite units....use them....counter-assault to make sure you arent on the recieving end of a charge
Wraiths have a high initiative...and use a veil of darkness with your lord and make him with 10 immortals....bait the beserkers...then WHAM...your some where else shooting again....besekers are good, but they arent invinsible and daemon princes are TOO expensive...can you say heavy destroyers??
I know Im rambling...but a ctan nightbringer is pretty tough in cc too.....overall...manuvarability (butchered THAT word).....if they can never get you...they cant attack you....but be careful because occasionally they can move an extra d6 in movement....THERE!
"Kill a thousand men, and they will hate you. Kill a million men, and they will queue to face you. But kill a single man, and they will see monsters and devils in every shadow. Kill a dozen men, and they will scream and wail in the night."
- Zso Sahaal, Talonmaster of the Night Lords
Put a monolith right in front of the beserkers, they cannot harm you. Only the sergeants can (if they have p. fist). Put some tomb spyders in there for the heavy stuff and hard to kill (go t./s. 6!) and some heavy d to destroy anything that gets too close.
I would take high strength, low AP weapons, specifically the particle whip on the monolith and H.Destroyers gauss cannons. Because the Chaos have plenty of high cost troops, they will lose out on victory points big time if you take even just a few down...
The dragon shall awaken...
My roomate actaully has a similar list thats actually downright tooled to mess me up. So far in our series of games he's won about 15% of them. Why?
Cause necrons are expensive...but khorne is more expensive. Necrons may lack for AP 2 weapons...but AP 3 is actually not too hard to find. Also you got to conider they got to walk a long way through a lot of str. 5 and 6 firepower to get to you...and power armour isn't that great.
I've found that even Blood Rage and flying troops don't move fast enough to reach me with effective numbers.
Oh ya...and my NB has consistantly taken BOTH a thirster and a kitted out Daemon prince(with Dreadaxe) and walked away fine. Twice has he died before killing them both, but both times the resulting explosion made sure that all that was left was one MC with 1 wound. Not exactly a major threat. Then he switched the Dreadaxe for a Beserker Glaive...that lead to the NB always winning.
Provided I am pretty good with my rolls. but it just seems that the army can't stand up if it has to spend more than 1 turn outside combat. And when you play necron you have plently of tricks to ensure that they do stay out of combat in in your gunsights.
