Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have finished my dark angles space marine army and im thinking of starting tyranids. So col you guys tell me why i should collect them  Thanks
If you like to outnumber a SM player by 4 to 1, waves of samller beast that just keep coming, huge monsters than trampple anything in their path and can take a lot of beating.
Nasty criiters attack from places you didn't knew of.
Ever watched alien/strashiptroopers and like the waves of monsters?
Making sure you are the scourge of your area.
Lot's of conversion and such possible, a lot of lovely new models.
check the tyranid section of the board there is tons of info in the tyranid starter threads
Thanks this is what ive purchased
8 gene stealers
and thats it, are these any good?
Basically, you've bought some of the fun toys, but it looks like you need a core, which can be a number of things, traditionally its hordes of gaunts. Another variant is lots of warriors, a third option is lots of big monsters and finally there's the all stealer army.
What you've bought so far sounds like a good start of a balanced army, what I'd get next is more gaunts and some warriors, for the synapse then provide and for some awesome CC or Shoting prowess. Both the warrior box and the gaunt box gives you ripper swarms too, usually not a major part of an army, but with the right upgrades, they pretty good.
An important thing to consider before you build your stealers is what upgrades to give them, I started a thread about this a while ago, and the things I learned are as follows:
1 Cost effeciency are your watch words
2 Most people use them without upgrades or with carapace armour
3 When they're a retinue for a Broodlord, a lot of people forgo all upgrades
Keep these things in mind, personally, I recommend the carapace armour biomorph, but its all a matter of personal taste.
If you're going to take zoanthropes, take more than one, a lone zoanthrope rarely accomplishes much, with 2 you get at least 1 hit per turn, statistically speaking.
Same goes for biovores, they arent a very popular choice, I dont use them myself, but if they're to be effective, you need more than one.
You need to think long and hard before assembling your fex, there's tons of options, I'll cover the 4 main variants, as I see them.*
The dakka fex, enhanced senses and 2 twinlinked devourers means tons of shoots, and its really cheap too.
Then there's the long range fex, enhanced senses, a venom cannon and possibly a barbed strangler too, these fexes often sport extended carapace or bonded chitin, or similar life prolonging biomorphs.
Finally there's the 2 types of CC fex, the cheap one with WS, I and some scything talons, a real barging. The expensive one has crushing claws, tusked, a tail weapon and all usually sone of the life prolonging things, like 2+ save or maybe regenerate.
*To stop any storms of "your fexes suck", the above are the 4 main types as I see them, notice the I.
Thanks for the advice
I now have 6 warriors
(and by the way i have 20 gaunts)
I essembled my fex with, scything talons, crushing claws, regenerate and mace tail wepon
im trying to build a close combat army any advice on what to give my warriors?
This is what im going to get...
2-3 boxes of gaunts
another 2 biovores
another 2 zoanthropes
a few gargoyes
and a couple of lictors

If you want CC warriors, extended carapace, rending claws, scything talons and leaping are good upgrades.
If you can spare the points, toxin sacs and the 2 adrenal upgrades will turn your warriors into seriously nasty CC beasts, although I'm not sure if they're cost effecient.
Regen is worthless. If you want a CC fex get Old One Eye. I don't recomend even attempting to make a CC fex anymore.Originally Posted by worjam17
well CC fex can be good if you can get him in to CC.
a got and rather cheap starter army would be IMO 2 starter boxes and another box of gaunts. thats 48 gaunts 6 warriors 16 geanstealers 6 warriors and some rippers
for CC warriors as mentioned above rendingC ST ext carapace leaping and +I is great but rather expensive. but i think your carnifex with TL barbed strangler will draw mutch attention. later on you could but a hive tyrant. but i think that you could convert a rather cool out of one of tose carnifexes.
any good ideas how to make wings to a hive tyrant?
Tryanids are known for Outnumbering, outpowering and being Sneaky.
Get Lots of Guants,
Termaguants for power and unlimited numbers-which is very intimanting
Spineguants for Cheap- good for meatshield
Hormaguants-Speead and killing potiental
Get Warriors for strong, meduim size fire power, keep the guants in line
Lictors and genstealers to attack enemy at flank while the main swarm advance on the enemy.
Carnefex is a symbol of power and terror. It is the most dreaded beast in the swarm.
Raveners for spped and power, like hormaguants
And to Show your enemy that you are dominate, you are one with the swarm buy a Hive Tyrant.
Fall Before the fury of the swarm
