Well, its finally happening, the new tau are going to come out. Now I'm not saying the new tau stuff isn't cool, hell, I don't know if there is anything cooler, but all I'm saying is, I'm going to miss the good old days, when stealth suits actually looked semi-stealthy, and pathfinders were fast attack, who is going to use them now? Why take them when you could take an extra couple o' broadsides? With all this new stuff coming out, god only knows how long it will take to revamp my tau...
(In other words, I'm just a rantin')
How many Inquisitors does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Three,
one to screw it in, one to outlaw lightbulbs, and one to deny lightbulbs ever existed.

I'll leave the on-topic-ness for mods to decide. However, lucky for the OP the days he fondly remembers are not over. He can still take the old stealth suits if he wants (I'm sure they'll be availible from the archives) and I have every intention to continue using Pathfinders. In fact, I plan on getting more. If the choice is between Broadsides and Pathfinders, for me the choice is simple: ditch the Broadsides.
So happy days are still here! Woo! Yay!!!
why would you take broadsides over pathfinders?
that just confuses me! in my opinion broadsides are far more cooler and useful the pathfinders. dont get me wrong, pathfinders are useful but broadsides are fear inspiring. they're deadly. evrybody (i know of) fears broadsides!
Oshovah is very mad DEATH TO THE HERRITICS!!!!!!!! AUNSHI RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its not me that scares you, its your inability to accept differences
Its of course up to everyone's playing style. I prefer Pathfinders. My Hammerheads, Seeker Missiles, and Missile Crisis suits are more than adequate at taking out enemy vehicles, and they're far more mobile than Broadsides, so I can protect them better. Even with the rumoured "Slow and Purposeful" upgrade (which I've always heard will cost points and I expect will take up a hard point that I usually use to give my Broadsides drones/shields), Broadsides will still only move as though they are in difficult terrain. I just don't think that's worth it.
I also prefer the look of Pathfinders to Broadsides, although I am working on a conversion that makes Broadsides look more like I envision them to be (to bad it got smashed in the move).
I'm not saying Pathfinders are better than Broadsides all around. I'm saying they have different strengths which will appeal to certain players over the Broadside. Not everyone is going to play with the exact same list (Tau aren't Necrons after all) and to fear that one unit will vanish completely from everyone's armies isn't nessecary. Ultimately, you should take the units you like and not worry about what other people are fielding- you'll enjoy the game a lot more that way.
