I've been planning long and hard about what I'm going to do when all this new Tau stuff comes out, and I've come up with an idea.
The problem is that, like a lot of other folks on the forum, I've got mixed feelings about the new stuff. I don't like the new ethereals much at all. I like general look of the stealth suits, but I don't think they look too stealthy. I'd like to see the Crisis Suits get beefier ankles, etc., etc. You know, all the usual complaints we've been seeing.
So here's my brainstorm.
I'm going to keep my old version Stealth Suits as Stealth Suits, use the new Stealth Suits as Crisis Suits (I've got tons of Crisis weapons in my bits box), and use the old version Broadsides as Broadsides. That way every suit is a distinct model and I get to fix a few of my complaints about the Crisis Suits (the weak ankles and the silly heads).
I think people are overestimating the size of the new Stealthsuits. They're about the size of Terminators, so they're a bit undersized for a Crisis Suit.
Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me.

Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
They aren't much taller than what they are now, like Broadside_Pilot said. They're just beefier.
However, they ARE plastic (at least thats what I've heard), so you can convert them a bit. I don't really think you could do this in a tournement, but friendly games you should have no problems.

Well that's some good news.Originally Posted by The Doctor

The stealth suits aren't supposed to be ninjas.
It's not like they are supposed to be hiding behind trees and doing backflips between bolter shots.
They just have some kind of mechanism to skew your visibility of them. Think 'Predator' (9 foot, buff, stompy alien. Just very hard to see.) for an example of stealth without agility or small size.
It's supposed to be thick armor w/ a jet pack (and ammo for the burst cannons, power supply etc). Makes perfect sense to me that they'd be terminator-beefy.
Really true. If u has an invisiblity system u dont need yo be small. And in the other hand i prefer new model IMO.
i h8 the new stealth suits. They just look top heavy. I also quite like the new ethereals, and the vespids. (just to be contrary)
i have mixed feelings about the new suit. I meaning it looks great and what not, but when i want to perfer stealth, I just perfer the suits that hug the body more. I'll just buy the new stealth troops but use the old models as team leaders.
IIRC, the new suit isn't a reaplacement for the old, but a new model all together....
IMO, if you're gona be stealthy (however it's done) less volume is always better.... (less to hide)... i'm a big fan of the old style (and believe there should be a fire-warrior variant that uses similar jet pack styles...)
as with the new ones,
i plan to plant vespids behind them so they look like dung beatles rolling balls...
granted, once i get my hands on a couple, i might be able to mod 'em within reason... (personally, the loss of head movement is what bugs me, they don't look too much like heavy support with those blinders on...)
Pictures of the Smigs Army for your amusement....
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
