I go for twin-linked plasma cannons, with multi-tracker. and the combination fusion blaster missilepod and multi-tracker, can make some really messy pulp out of a tank.

This is my HQ against IG:

    Commander with Fussion & Missiles
    2 Shas'vre with Pulse Cannon & Missiles

The average Tau with BS 3 does not hit very often, so they need guns with a lots of shots. The commander on the other hand (if you take a Shas'o) will hit nearly always, so he needs the weapons that cause lots of damage with few shots. Using a Multitracker on the commander will enable him to take out tanks, while his bodyguards pour fire into imperial infantry.

    @shas:

The multitracker on those Crisis with t/l plasma isn't doing much good, is it?

Maybe that was just a mistake.

Anyway, I think the obvious choice is the missile pod and either burst cannon or plasma, simply because the missile pod provides good strength and range to balance out the shorter ranged weapons.

I also think that t/ling weapons is a good idea though, it saves you from needing the multi tracker and thus allows you to take a drone controller or shield gen or something else instead.
And.. I don't personally like multi role units, because they end up wasting some of their power. (if you take a crisis with missile pod and burst cannon, and end up sniping with the missile pod for a few turns, you're wastin the BC and those points you spent on it. I think it's better to make units into single role squads with particular targets in mind and a specific range you wanna engage from.)

I think its best to keep them flexible, as they are the "Crisis Suits" and should be able to handle all kind of Crisis. The Tau have better Specialists, like Ghosts for Troops or Broadsides for Tanks. The Crisis have to fullfill every roll depending on the situation.

I dunno if this is legal but I equipped my Commander with a Missile Pod, Fusion Blaster and Plasma Rifle, with a Hard-Wired Multi-Tracker, HW Target Lock and HW drone controller complete with one shield drone.

Lots of points but can hold off the enemy quite well.

I thought crisis could only have 2 weapons?

    I think that's illegal.

I'm too lazy to check my codex right not for specifics though, so I may be wrong.

PapaBear, you are correct about regular crisis suits, sort of but he said Commander. He is legal. The crisis suit actually has 3 hard points, but it's nearly pointless to put three weapons on one without a multitracker. The commander can then have 3 hard-wired systems.

I have two commanders, one with 2 weapons and one with three. All in fun right?

The multi tracker only allows you to fire two weapons at once though... So if you took all 3 hardpoints as weapons then you'd still only be able to fire 2 of em at a time.

There is no explanation that says that you can stack multitrackers either, so I'd assume that you're only allowed a single multitracker, and a max of 2 weapons to fire.

It seems you're right though, you can take 3 weapons, you just have limits on how many you can use in a turn.
