So, my friend just recieved his new close combat terminatiors. He, being the ignorant moron that he is, has laid out his plan for me.
It consists of jump troops, probably around 15
Deep Striking Close Combat Terminators
Bikes, around 5
These and a couple of troops and his HQ
I need to know an effective counter, my resources consist of
3 Crisis Suits- One used as commander
6 Stealth Suits
Well the first thing you need is to arm the crisis suits with the plasma and maybe even the fusion guns. Lose the pathfinders they wont be broken. Um just a question are you allowing you opponet to field this army as it isn't legal. Just checking you know.
the second thing you want to remember is that his saves will protect him from almost all of the shots fromt he firewarriors. so he will take casualties. Your first priority is to take out the bikes. You want every gun you got to shoot at the termies the second they land. The drones and hammer head and suits can take care of this and probably get to the main line instead.
For deployment you want to do either of these. One a massive clump of firepower or a super spread out set up so he has to dot he same witht he termies if he wants to win other wise you could just runn away and keep shooting.

I agree, Ap 2 weapons are what you need to kill the termies, and massed amounts of pulse rifle fire
I think he(your oposition) can have two squads of termies which consist of 5, and 10, but he cannot have a squad of 15
One Shot, One Kill
right so if in theory, you split up your firewarriors he will have to do so with his termies, and if he dosent well you got him. then focus on the group that you can kill for sure kill it then fire anything left at the other squad. next turn just do a walk backwards and shoot type deal. and if he splits up into 3 of 5 well then take out the groups out one at a time and work from one flank to the next you dont want to get sandwiched.
I don't think he has 15 terminators. He has 1 squad of assault termies, my guess is a squad of 5. He has a bike squadron and he has about 15 jmup troops. My guess is jump troops means tactical squads in drop pods, though it could be assault marines.Originally Posted by Blue Wave
Anyway the assault termies shouldn't be much of a problem, as said before, hit 'em with ap 2 weapons and massed pulse rifle fire. You'll have at least 1 turn in which to shoot him before he can charge and probably more due to scatter and the fact that you can just lead him around the board thanks to his paltry 6" movement.
EDIT: Oops the jump troops were assault marines, he mentions the troops and hq under that.

what marine army is he play?
If he have all his points in fast troppes like deepstrike and jump inf.
Don't have too many firewarriors, they will get 1 or 2 shot and that is max. Marines never flee and when they come in cc with your Tau units they will die "fast".
Take 2 or 3 hammerheads with ion cannon and suits with plasma and fusion blaster.
Use the hammerheads (and the suits until) for the jump inf. and when his deepstrike hit the ground use the suits firepower and move too kill them.
The key is move, move and move if the gets too the unit it is dead:cry:

From the sound of his army, it's illegal. Make sure he has two Troops choices before you play.
As for dealing with the terminators, Plasma, Fusion, and massed everything is the way to go. Or, Mech your army up and just run from them. They are slow, and can't do anything unless in HtH, so just running will work. Then just worry about the bikes and assault marines.
Again, massed fire will be your best asset there.

i actually played a 600pt tau army against space marines and he used a 5 man termy assault squad. so i moved my 5 crisis and killed them all in two turns
(coincidentially, i lost because i couldn't take out the tactical squad. danm those missile launchers!)
