Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm working on a 1000 point eldar army, all mounted Saim-Hann, and I needed to know what some of the best stuff to put on my falcon is. So far, I haev the 2 basic weapons, plus a starcannon, with holo-field. I thought that would be enough, without having spent too many points on tanks. Also, since I am playing Saim Hann, what would be a good way to increase my force, if I wanted to take it to 1500. To see my basic army list, check in the army list section.

4th Brigade, 1st Battalion, 1st Co.
'The Pathfinders', Drop Team - 6
Pssst.... give me kudos....
Upgrading the catapults to a cannon makes the falcon a nasty gunship - it gives you a good volume of high S shots where you need them.
Other than that, make sure you've got a spirit stone - it's the perfect complement to the holo-field.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
Holo-field and Spirit Stones are a definite, and will make the Falcon immensely survivable. I also have Scythes on my Saim-Hann Falcon, but only because I decided to model sharp pointy bits on it anyway (off the DE raider sprue). They don't usually do much, so are usually a waste of points. However, they killed a Marine Terminator once.
What are you guys talking about????
What about using Star engines and Vectored engines!!!! I know My tanks wouldn't do as well as they do without some Vectored engines...
Just kidding... as said above you can't take a holo field without spirtstones....together they make ur tank hang around almost all game long.
Indeed, this is all very good advice for Wave Serpents and Falcons.
However as a side point, I'd like to point out that on Vypers (which is something your probably going to have at 1000pts) I'd recommend you put NO upgrades on them other than a Starcannon. Simply put, Vypers function better through numbers than through individual strength, sticking a 40 point upgrade on one doesn't stop it from being a fragile AV10 vehicle. Basically Vypers function best by being cheap, having expensive Vypers with CTMs and Spirit Stones is always going to be a mistake.
why does no one talk of c.t.m. i know it's expensive but i hate the idea of how fragile these skimmers are. for 30pts i have a chance for them not to be shot at at all. especially for vipors. pop up fire and hide it's annoying but works in the right environment.
what has your experiences been?
I have an opponent that takes a starcannon toting vyper with all the upgrades that allow it to shoot in the movement phase, this vyper is a real pain as my 21-point grey slayers mean that it nearly always gets clost to earning its points back (there has been many time where i've killed it on the first turn by kraking it).
Most people don't do that because of the cost but it can earn its points back easily (especially if it is armed with a brightlance) when used carefully (it also really sums up the manuvourablity of the eldar IMO).
I think it depends on the game. When my friends and I play we have hardly any cover, and a tank or heavy weapon troops some where on the opposite side can see you. You might be abile to hide from 1 or 2 things that can hit you max.Originally Posted by KYKK
I have seen some games where people pile on the terrain in these games it could be priceless for sure. But these games ussually take hours to finish because of all the hiding and tracking from both players. If I was playing in these games I would take a CTM even on my falcon.
That is part of the problem: the points cost. Yes, it is very powerful, but when you play Saim-Hann you will be using a lot of skimmers. It would cost me 300 points to equip my entire 1500 point army with CTMs.:wacko:Originally Posted by KYKK
However, if you just took a one or two Vypers, then it could be worth it.
