I was talking with my friend about wraiths and he suggested use nine wraiths to counter regular terminators because of their 3+ invulnerable save. So both would be hitting on 4's, wounding on 2's, but wraiths would go first. Has anyone tried that/What do u guys think?
I guess I can see where that might be feasable (sp???) in combat and theory, wraiths will strike first and lots of attacks, but termies still get teir 2+ armor save, the termies wont be dying anywhere near fast enough that their 2 str 8 attacks that will auto kill the wraiths to make it worth wild though.
Plus if they have assault cannons they can lay down a whoole lot of fire before they get in combat. And if they are assault termies, thats a whole nother bad situation in its own.
He's coming for you...
Also, the Termies will be wounding on 4's (unless they have their little Power Fists).. so.Originally Posted by Moriar
Just remember, especially if they are Assault Termies; they will still be getting a pretty good amount of attacks, and even with a full squad of Wraiths, it will only take three hits, three wounds, and three unsaved armour saves to take them out; which, with the number of attacks Termies get, shouldn't be too difficult. And any hits in return, will most likely bounce off of the Terminator armour.
terminators do not have a 3+ invulnerable. they have a 2+ armour save and a 5+ invulnerable
Your friend was wrong about the rules and is a silly goose
-wraiths are utterly ineffective as a counter to termies, they will do nothing, and die very fast, as termies still wound on 2+'s and negate WBB.
-a much more effective counter would be the nightbringer, as he costs the same as nine wraiths, but can rip through multiple termie squads in CC, and if you use warriors as bait, and force them to come to you, then his speed isn't an issue.
-also, tomb spiders work okay, and can usually take down 2 termies with them, thus paying themselves off
Procrastination- hard work often pays off over time, but laziness always pays off now.
Indifference- it takes 43 muscles to frown, and 17 to smile, but none to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

If you are going to run so many wraiths as a fast hard hitting unit then realistically you should run a lord with warsythe, Res Orb, Phase shifter, and destroyer body.
This will give them a huge boost in hitting power and Termies get no form of armour/Invulnerable save from a Warsythe...... Your wraiths will also ALWAYS get a WBB.....
A lot of Points but certainly a good way to take down Termies
With the Majority Initiative being 6 you can sweeping advance easier also.
Only A Dwarf Can Appreciate A Hairy Woman
Wraiths, no I have tried, they die.
Nightbringer is better, but he has disadvantages in other parts of the game.
Lord with Warsyth can be OK, but will die without a lot of help.
Necrons have no 'good way' to deal with Termies, dems da breaks. We can cope with them, but we do not have a unit or gun that is designed to kill tough high save troops or monsters.
Necrons have a HEAVY DESTROYERS with 9str and 2ap. Thats inough to kill any charakter. In most games i think on the batllefield yoy cant meet more than 5-10 termies.
Most necron players can use 2 unit slots for heavy destroyers, 4-6 HD is inought for that.
