I've been in a heated debate in another board about Phase Out and when it is checked...
I understand that the wording of Phase out is some one open to interpretation, but there is definately one way to have it work like it is supposed to and one way that seems really out to lunch and a stretch to make it work... Can i get the general consensus here on LO?
For me and my regular Necron opponent, Phase Out is when the Necron player has lost 75% of "Necron" units that are on the board.
It seems fair and true to me, and him.
Any more questions?
i believe that it is checked out after you have made all of your WBB to see if u can get out of phase out. This is why i like going second sometimes because it means i get to use WBB on the last turn where as if u go first u cant.
Phase out is checked on the following turn (if possible) after the WBB rolls are made but before the necrons start their moving etc.
So on turn 5 you lose a total of 12 necron warriors all around the board. On your following turn (turn 6) at the start of your, the necron players, turn you roll your WBB. Say you pass 9 of them, you had to pass 10 of them to not phase out, which you do now.
But say on turn 6 (or the last turn whichever) he kills necrons that put you under the phase out limit. You CANNOT phase out on the last turn if you read, you just count the downed Necron models as casulties/victory points/etc. for killing them, they do not get to take their WBB roll.
Hopefully that clear things up, if not ask again and I'll see if i can re-write it to make it clear.
Ok thanks... that was what i was arguing that Phase out is not a contiual check and only happens at the beginning of the Necron Turn after the WBB rolls are made for that turn. The opposition was saying that it was a continual check and at any point during the last turn if the necron force had dropped below 25% then they would immediately phase out... Thank you for confirming my sanity in this topic!
I really couldn't believe that they would interpret "if, after all WBB! rolls are made..." as after all the rolls in turn 6 ( or whatever turn was the last turn) that it was a continual check as to if the force would Phase out... such a warped interpretation and made it a completely unplayable way of using Phase out...
so wait just to clarify if the opponent gets last turn we are still above phase out our last turn then we dont phase out even if he kills enough models to do so?
WBB rolls are made at the beginning of the Necron player's turn. In a Necron vs. Necron, only WBBs for necrons controlled by the player whose turn it is can be made.
PO is checked after you have made your WBBs, but still at the beginning of the turn, and before movement.

Yes, PO is checked once all units that may make a WBB roll has done so. If it is the last turn, and you have units that fall down, they are removed and counted as casulaties.
2 wraithlords at 1000 points was called cheese by my friends. My gf shot them both down in the first turn.
