Welcome to Librarium Online!
hey all, I just was wondering who's heard anything about new weargear for the tau.
right now, we can all obviousaly see there is a new kind of gun out (look at the Vespid models), and I've heard rumors of new Markerlight rules, though i don't know the actuial rules for either.
anyone else hear anything or have info?
Vindicor's note to self: Shoot the guy with the banner pole...
...after a long day of battle rituals, prayer, and sparing... Even the mighty Wolf Lord Logan Grimnar retires to his chambers where he secretly reads "Imperium Today" while haveing Tea and a slice of Pie...
I have not heard much since there is no locan GW for me, but a assault 5 rending wep sounds pretty good, it just depends on how much it costs
i need to find something interesting to put here
Ok Scotty, jokes over... NOW BEAM UP MY CLOTHES!
Well, there was this off Dakkadakka, which was originally posted elsewhere:

Correct, Acute senses USR as per the rule book (p75)
Vectored engines (I think thats what its called) Allows Battlesuits to have hit and run ability
Vectored Retro thrusters IIRC gives you Hit & Run USR (special issue)
Forgot the name of it, but it gives you a 2+ save, but jump back is reduced to D6"
Iridium Armour plates.
Another one that allows anyone within 12" of the commander to use his Ld for target priority.
Command & Control node.
All bodyguard models can take those special weapons the commander can take.
Correct, the bodyguard are all Shas'vre and therefore get access to special issue wargear.
The shotgun/mortar one Strength of a Bolter, AP of a Bolter, small blast and ignores cover, also you always count as stationary for scatter and if the whole unit has it is counts as a multiple barrage.
Small? I thought it was large although I'm more than willing to conceed that might have changed.
The exploding Battlesuit one: if you get run down in HTH you can opt for your bodyguard to escape and you blow up instead, causing a S8 hit on stuff (not sure on the specifics of this)
S8 AP- large blast, other rules involved as well.
Sniper Drones have a stealth field generator (with a 36" range as well, ouch!) and network markerlights
Sniper drones don't have network makerlights the spotter does.
O Shova can have a bodyguard of up to 7 Crisis suits (yes, with all of the above options available)
Fire Warriors in O shova's army are bonded for free, being "blood brothers" and all
Aun' Va has rules "very inspiring precense" and "ultimate price fo failure" not sure what both of these do, I assume they are obviously boosted versions of the standard Ethereal's abilities (Brimstone, help here!)
Supremely inspiring presence makes all Tau within line of sight to Aun'va stubborn.
He also added this a few posts later:
In updated/corrected news to my previous post Stealth Sas'vres DO NOT get special issue wargear it's now only available to XV-8 Shas'vre (which makes sense testing new equipment on their most reliable battlesuit).
Aside from the large blast, str 8 suiciding commanders, it all seems pretty fair and reasonable.
Vespid guns have been confirmed Str5 Ap3
wow!! if this is true then the eldar is not the cheese masters! the tau has taken the first place on the quest for cheese!
but assault 5 rending?? that is to powerfull..
Stealths are equivalent of S5 AP3 against marines, and better otherwise. Vespids won't be 30pts though, so they'll be more efficient against marines, but won't be alive at the end of the game to score.
I see this unit sitting in your deployment zone behind terrain, flying out when the enemy gets close to your firing lines, shooting, assaulting with I5, and dieing.
Assault 5 rending, but only S3.
Meh, no one but Tyranids should have rending. Just because GW screwed up on the assault cannon does not mean that they should give rending to every other army.
The problem with your statement, Marneus, is that it makes sense ...and since we all know GW tries not to do that whenever possible...

From what I've heard, the Assault 5 Rending gun is going to be special issue, which means it can only given Shas'vre or higher ranked Crisis Suits. Powerful, but only availible in limited quantities.
Besides, lets not jump to cry cheese until we've seen how much it costs. I remember when Tau first came out and people were wailing about cheese something fierce. They turned out to be one of the most under-powered armies of their time and people on this very forum are still saying they need help, despite the boost 4th edition gave them.
Personally, I like most of what I'm hearing. It sounds like Tau are going to get a lot more options for battlesuits without any clear power-combos.
