i'm not a big fan of the orca, it looks like a bus and costs twice what i paid for my entire 1500 point army

the sentry drones are nice but expensive (both points and cash) and i don't see the advantage over an XV8

forgeworld always makes poop ime. I'll give em a looksie though.

Yep. Suspicions confirmed.

I mean.. the interior is O.K... But not awesome. Same old firewarrior and crisis suit models just reshaped a bit and shoved into a little can. The parts of the interior that are original, (the walls and seating and stuff), look pretty poor imo.

It costs a monkey load... *and* all of the models are gonna be stuck in there funky like so there's no value to you except as an extremely over priced show piece.

The way I see it... 40k models, particularly forgeworld, aren't *that* cool. They're cool enough to enjoy for the game, but if you can't use it in the game then I'm not gonnna spend that much dough on it. Check out some regular models that aren't made by price gouging villians and you'll find just as satisfying detail without the price tag. (I built a b-29 super fortress when I was a wee lad, my dad did most of the work. that thing was awesome, awesome interior detail, over 2 ft in length and about the same for the wingspan. I'm sure it cost a fraction of what that frikin' orca costs)

*shakes fist at price gouging bastages*

Let me just point out one thing at the same time as we are dicussing forgeworld prices here...
Forgeworld makes their models out of resin...
Do you have any idea what that stuff costs?

Ok first... the stuff is really good for giving detail on a plastic model...

But check this out...
I know where to buy resin... was thinking of makinf stuff myself...
The stuff costs like 90£ per five litre!!!
You gotta agree that it's kinda expencive...
Consider that it also takes some effort to make the stuff FW makes.
It's still expencive, I agree but rather think of what great models you get from the guys...

I just don't think the models are *that* great, that was my point.

They frequently just takes parts of other models and fiddle with em and then pretend it's new and amazing. Like their sentry turrets for example: The stucture itself is bland and uninteresting, I could definetely make something similar myself. And then they just take the standard tau weapons and attach them... Making me wonder why I wouldn't just make my own? The orca obviously has alot more detail to it then the turrets... but not that much. And the design itself is a big boring twinkie looking thing. The most interesting/detailed parts of the exterior are the engines, which aren't new, and the turret, which is cool but still just a simple turret.

And that's some expensive resin. (I have never seen it for sale in 5 litre bottles so I'm not sure how to compare, but it isn't all that expensive at the hobby store near me in the states).

That's just how I feel about FW.

Well duh!!

I live in Norway for christ sake!!
The most expencive "foreign product" country in the world in my oppinion...

Ah well, nothing I can do about it... except getting someone to buy it for me somewhere abroad.

I have to agree on the sentry drones... they don't look especially "advanced".
They could maybe have chosen a better look to it, cause to a sertain degree it looks just like ordinary Tau buildings shrunk down to a smaller scale.

Am i the only one here who likes the forgeworld stuff?

The orca looks really good, especially the engines and the interior. and the sentry turrets are really good, i think that i will convert them, so that the go open and closed, mechanically.

The rules are good, IMO, not to overpowerd and not to weak.

I like the look of the orca, and I agree with papabear on the fact that they just tinker with other model. But some model they produce look amazing like the vampire hunter.
